Post by MalcolmSu » Sat Oct 29, 2011 8:06 pm

my headlamp washers have stopped working. Is there a fuse that covers just these?

I wish I could get mine to stop working!!....It's one of the most stupid things ever.....they have no benifit but force you to fill up the fluid twice as often as you would normaly....Malcolm you are a lucky man!!

they're not specifically listed on the fuse box cover but the manual lists "relay for headlight washers" under fuse 3. It also covers glove box light; air conditioner control; gearbox selector and instrument cluster so not an option to just pull the fuse to stop them working! :D

I was wondering if they were not wired up again after my gearbox change? However getting in to them to see doesn't look easy...

I believe there is only one pump for both the windscreen washers and the headlight washers. There is no electrical element to the headlight washers. The pressure makes them pop up and squirt the headlights. I suspect that they haven't been connected up when the bumper was put back on.

I tell a lie. There is a separate pump for the headlight washers (V11). It's powered from the J31 wash / wipe relay which does all the other wipers and pumps so it's almost certainly not a fuse. I don't know where this pump is - I would guess that it's attached to the washer bottle like the windscreen washer pump. Best thing to do is have a look at the electrical connections and see if you get 12V there when you activate the headlight washers.

If there is juice there, then possibly the pump is dead. If the pump is OK then you could check for kinks in the pipes going to the popup jets.

If there is no 12V there then I'd suspect the relay.

Do they activate when lights are off or in park? They don't on my S4 b5.

They should only come on with headlights on. I'm pretty sure they did wash in both park and drive
