hmmmm... horses for courses i suppose..... not really very practical. a racing boat turned into a pleasure boat. there is nothing pleasurable about doing 100mph across water unless its mirror flat. there are better boats out there for less money. its got £200k worth of feckin dials for christs sake.

Well I'm pretty sure an RS6 goes a lot faster on land than that thing with probably about 10x the fuel consumption :D

The two best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

That boat is not a money pit, it's a money abyss!

Bet it gets the girls wet though. With all the spray and such like.

Bines were very popular in boats in the 90's and early 00's. But todays current economical climate has seen owners go away from turbine powered boa and indeed away from motor all together. Corporations who use vessels as atax loss are now considering sail to improve their "green credentials".
I once played with a boat that had 63,000 hp from 3 RR gas turbines. it was mental. Especial when you consider it was only 60 meters in length.
Gravy, would love to hear about your project, PM if prefered.
Did a boat test not so long ago on a Pershing 115, it had 2 MTU 3750hp diesels and a TF50 turbine (5000hp) all coupled to 3 KaMeWa water jets.... top speed 52 knots in a 35 meter yacht. Problem was... and we think RS ownership is thirsty, it carried 4500 gallons of fuel and its range at 30 knots?? 450 miles.

63,000 hp jesus... yes you cant quite get you head around about buying fuel in tons rather than litres!

very interested in doing a gas turbine project... we are going to look for a good base hull to start with and go from there, the sheer noise they produce is amazing

^^^ oh and that used 900 tonnes of fuel on the crossing.. it AVERAGed 63 knots, we reckon when she crossed the line she was doing nearly 100.
