Mart.
Now you have had both fitted is there a big difference between the two?
Are the non res too loud?

Yes, there is definitely a difference. For me there is less of a difference in overall volume, but more in terms of quality of sound. I found the non-res to be very boomy and intrusive in the cabin, which got very annoying. Both are loud outside the car, especially with the catless downpipes that I have fitted, but I find the resonated centres to have a tighter, more pleasing sound, where the non-res sound boomy and flabby, almost like your exhaust is blowing.

The main issue, and the reason why I suspect many owners are dissatisfied with the resonated centres is that the RS6 is so well sound insulated, that you just don't get the aural effect of the exhaust inside the car. I can guarantee though, that from the outside it's a different story.

All the centre silencers do on the resontated pipes is reduce resonance and boom, the overall volume is very similar IMHO.

Hope that helps,

Mart.

Thats exactly what I'm finding. I had my non-res fitting by Grizz in Feb. If anyone is interested in swapping their resonated for my non-res, give me a shout.

That's what I'm worried about. I absolutely love the sound now and thought that it would be even better with the non res. Now after hearing peoples opinions on having both I think I will stick to the res. Your right the car is very well protected from the outside noise and I don't think you really appreciate the true sound of the res miltek from inside. I have a lot of people telling me it sounds awesome from the outside.

Cheers mart :beerchug:

No worries mate. I was originally swayed by the general consensus that non-res was the way to go, but was dissapointed when I fitted it.

I think my experience this morning demonstrates just how loud the resonated system is - left my house and drove down the high street passing a little girl with her mum, the girl proceeded to cover her ears in mock pain by the noise coming from my car. Let's just say I think it's loud enough! :D

Hi Jan,

When are you getting the konis 55/35 installed? Im interested in your opinion about them.
I believed they are height adjustable but no damping adjustments?

You've already done some great work on your beloved RS6, gearbox rebuild etc. :beerchug:
Is the box behaving normally now after you mentioned some small issues? i hope so.
Nice to see you are getting/keeping the RS6 in great condition and nice upgraded specs. :jump_clap:

Am waiting for FK Konigsport coilovers. The seller of the koni kit turned out to be impossible to deal with (did not give me an opportunity to order after asking several times...only technical questions were answered  )

This FK kit is made with koni adjustable dampers, lets see what it does. Leadtime was supposed to be 5 days which has turned into 5 weeks.

Gearbox is doing well, much better than before, although it has developed a slight sound now to let you know it's still there. Did not have that before but from what I am told it is no cause for concern at this point.

Hi guys,

I her just bought a + which has a non res miltec fitted. Does anyone have a pair or resonated centre pipes for sale?

The exhaust has stainless pipe ends rather than the usual black ones. Don't know if this means it is too old / incompatible with the resonated centre pipes.

Thanks :)

The stainless steel tips are standard the ceramic coated black ones are optional and were expensive but seem to be same price now.
