Drive time - what'll the mpg be...?

Post by V800RS6 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:43 pm

Got a bit of a drive coming up soon - NE Scotland to SE England....!

AA Route Finder has it coming it at around 680miles...! :boots:

Heading down with a mate and car load of golf gear for weeks golf - will be monitoring mpg closely, anyone car to guess what my standard RS6 Avant will achieve.....?

I do have the occasional heavy foot, but nothing too stupid - more for overtaking / blasting the idiot away that sits on my bumper wanting a race...!

If you don't go over 80- 85 on the motorways i reckon mid 20s for the full journey. I got 29mpg on a 200 mile trip recently with the occasional stab of the loud pedal. :kissmyrings:

I reckon I could do that run and average 26-27mpg (driven carefully and at the speed limit)

I have never, ever got better than 24mpg (calculated, not DIS) and that was driving at 70mph with almost no stopping and no playing with the loud pedal.

They should remove the MPG display on all RS's...

Its MPH what you lot should be talkin about, not MPG !

Exactly. I always turn my display off. The only one I'm interested in is range :)

20.4 would be my guess

But you should be measuring GPM (Grins Per Mile) not MPG

I tend to grin constantly when in the '6 so I prefer MPG (Miles Per Grin) measurement.

You start the thread and I'm in. I've been reading the B7 forum of late, some very good comments in there. I'll be getting quote happy for the B7 boys, kudos due, April could be well contested.

Who cares... ???
680 miles = 4 hours.
and very true, the MPG function is about as much use as tits on a fish.
They should replace it with in order of consumption so worst- :thumb: below average :D average  best :wanker:
