that maybe so (i wasnt asked btw) but how can they add extra for points you havent got?

Its not a case of if they ask

Points must be declared on your insurance for up to 5 yrs from the date of the offence

If you don't declare them, you invalidate your insurance, if you think by being cheeky your saving a few bob, you might kick yourself if your motor gets nicked and they refuse to pay out as had happened to a chaps friend over on the RS 4 forum

I have just rang my insurance company in light of this and declared 5 years worth of points.Fortunately no change to policy PHEW !!!

I am really pleased you brought this up,cheers I had no idea you had to declare points up to 5 years ago..................oops

i was with admiral before and moved to sky insurance last year. they were competitive for me and also they replace the mods on a like for like basis. as opposed to the other insurers who only pay a certain % in the event of a claim.

another vote for Sky here,i took out a policy with them on wednesday.Although it was a comedy quote it was cheaper than all other quotes i had and all mods are covered like for like

you only declare points/claims in the last five years if thats what they ask. no statutory obligation its a contractual one depending on what is asked. sorry no upper case but baby is sitting on my left arm!

yes its not the law ... but its what most mainstream insurers have in their contract

Correct and if you mislead them you are screwed, because like the warranty companies they are always on the look out for their get out. Just is not worth it. Really surprised by your jump in premium though....

problem is just checked my details into compare the meerkat ... and the insurance co. im with is the cheapest ... and what I pay at the mo, inc the hike, is cheaper (as im on multi car)
