RE: Warranty Direct
I have just been quoted £775 Extra Care and will not require the £60 inspection as the potential RS6 purchase is being RAC inspected on Tuesday. Just need to forward them a copy of the report.Wondering whether this is a good idea or not? It would mean that the 90 day period for wear /tear was not required...
The guy initially said that suspension and air conditioning were not covered but implied that it would be thrown in as a gesture?

I had a quote from them the other day, they're still under sixty per hr ex VAT.RS6_Dave wrote:I think the rates have just gone up by a tenner an hour if I remember correctly?bam_bam wrote:Oddly enough, I asked if I could use MRC to do any work, they said yes, as long as the labour is under £60 per hr.

Thought I'd resurrect this post rather than starting a new one - just got covered by Warranty Direct on their Prestige and Performance Secure Care program (as the car is over 70,000 miles and doesn't qualify for the Extra Care - only difference is that there's no cover for suspension and air con) which cost £835 including the £60 inspection charge. I asked about parts waiver, the guy went away and came back saying £50 for that, so went for that as well.
Would just like to thank everyone for posting on this thread, as it really helped choose the policy and also to ask the right questions (esp parts cost waiver).
For further info, the policy allows up to 30,000 miles per year, work can be done at any VAT registered garage and as there's an inspection carried out there is no 90 day wait before claims can be made.
Just waiting for the guys to come and take a look at the car.
That's one big sigh of relief, as the potential for a dead gearbox has been weighing on my mind. The only regret I have is that the DRC was knackered when I bought the car, so suspension (and a stack of other work) has been done at my expense. Still, as long as the box dies in the next 5 years I'll be breaking even!

I had my inspection last week, they won't cover my engine as the tappets made a noise when it was first started (not used for a few days). I now have to get it checked out by a garage and send them a report as the inspector suspected an oil pressure problem. It's having an engine service and oil pressure check tomorrow.Fizmo100 wrote:Thought I'd resurrect this post rather than starting a new one - just got covered by Warranty Direct on their Prestige and Performance Secure Care program (as the car is over 70,000 miles and doesn't qualify for the Extra Care - only difference is that there's no cover for suspension and air con) which cost £835 including the £60 inspection charge. Oh ffs - so they're on the suspicious side then? One of my brake pads has a duff wire on the wear sensor, so I'm getting a bleeping and a warning light on the dash - checked at Unit 20, and I have a report from them saying it's just the wire, but I'm starting to think this may become an issue.
Plus, mine's a little 'ticky' from the top end of the engine - just assumed that was part of the character of the car, no?
Meh - already got replacement pads, will have to get 'em on before they come I reckon.

TIP i have had a inspection from WD and believe me they check everything to make sure all works...even the heated seats/radio and sat nav, any warning lights on and it is req to be fixed before they will issue the policy. THE CAR IS ALSO DRIVEN ON THE ROAD to double check.Fizmo100 wrote:Oh ffs - so they're on the suspicious side then? They're calling me tomorrow to arrange a time to visit, so I'll have a chat with them about it and see what they have to say - there are a feww small niggles that I've been living with, such as a dead key fob and a wonky sat nav antenna, so I'll have to see what they say about those things - I'll be a bit pissed off if they want all that sorted before issuing a warranty - I'd be more than happy to have it issued but just not cover those items, I'm only getting the warranty to cover the gearbox and alternator really!
I had an inspection done and they would not cover the car.
They said that the rear discs needed replacing (I have since renewed the rear discs and pads) and that the coolant was slightly brown so they were supsicious the engine had overheated at some point. I contacted the previous owner and he said that the car had never overheated. ???
Conclusion: no warranty.

Hi all, my car has just gone in for new torque converter hopefully under RAC warranty (believe it's underwritten by warranty direct) came with the car. Garage spoke to them on my behalf and they said the require it to be removed and sent off to Sussex auto's. If it is faulty they will pay out if it is wear and tear they won't - gearbox only covered 7k miles so pretty sure it's shot! Hope so otherwise I have a car with the engine out and a bill waiting for me! Won't pay for part from Audi but will have reconditioned with uprated parts. Apparently as its an aftermarket warranty they use aftermarket parts!
What they have said is they will not pay for fluids? Not too much of an issue as we are talking hundreds not thousands but seems weird - why pay out almost 3k on parts and labour but not pay for new ATF in???

How did you get on Marv?
This morning the inspection guy came, had a good natter, took as good a look round as he could without removing anything (they're not even allowed to remove the plastic covers over the engine...), drove it for 5 minutes and declared it ok. I think the hefty sums that have been spent on the old girl these last few months might have had something to do with it. The only fly in the ointment was the rear drivers side electric window got stuck down, and I had to jiggle it in the runners to get it to go back up. Hopefully not a deal breaker on the warranty - I phoned them in the week to run it past them and they said on the phone it would be fine, so lets see if they keep their word.
I've spent the week feeling apprehensive, like I have pre-exam jitters - it's daft, but I'm so relieved now it's gone ok! Has anyone ever done a study to work out how many years owning an RS6 takes off your life with the worry?!?
