ELECTRONIC LUMBAR BROKEN

Post by mrmule » Thu Aug 26, 2010 6:46 pm

Chaps,

The one job which I agreed to take on with the new 6 was the above.

I know it could be an expensive bill (possibly warranty), but one I will not face without having a go first.

Anyone had it break on them, and fixed successfully?

The passenger one works, so unless they have separate fuses I doubt its that.

Are the switches weak? Any tips of easy ways to peer underneath/inside and test the circuits? Is it a chair out job? Will that create fault codes?

Unfortunately its broken with the adjustment at zero, so it feels like sitting in a hammock.

Any help appreciated...

As the motor is internal im not sure how easy a fix this is. Work from the the fuses and switches back, and if no joy it might be a seat out / strip job. The motor may have burnt out if the last owner was a regular adjuster / or a fat bloke.

Or the switch broke / has poor contacts.

My driver's seat fore / aft has "issues" occassionally and is only OK if I move it a certain way.

Mine broke a long time ago and the motor was replaced. It may have got stuck as I could feel some sort of impulse when the button was pressed but no movement.
I am not a fat bloke.
Chair out will trigger the airbag light which will need to be reset.

There's nothing when I press the button. Hope it's just a switch issue...
