No, but when I do it will be a removable towbar type and not on the roof.

I used roof type.

I see why some people don't like it, but I get on fine.

To my knowledge the type that straps to the tailgate is unsuitable for cars with rear spoilers, so the only other option is towbar mounted. Howevwe am I not right in saying Audi state that the C5 RS6 is not to be fitted with towing equipment as the gearbox oil cooler will not cope under the extra load of towing?

I've got Audi roof bars and Thule bike racks. Some people say the Audi gear is too expensive, but I get a staff rate on such items so never complain.

Go to:

http://www.roofracks.co.uk

This is Thule's retail website and there's a good range of tackle on here.

Topped a ton with two bikes on the Thule system on the roof with no problems.

It's fine for putting bikes on a tow bar. That won't affect the gearbox.

Pulling caravans etc will!

How would you get on with a warranty claim if the warranty company say they won't pay for a gearbox because of the towing? I think it would be difficult to argue it never towed anything?

I tried a towbar specialist a month ago and they basically said, no, you can't have a tow bar... But I know Grizz said he'd seen a few with them... You've just got to try and source the right one and get someone to do it or DIY and get looms I believe, and.... I'm just sticking a roof rack on as can't be bothered with hassle.

Mine is detachable too. Wouldn't know it has one unless you look underneath

Do you have the exact reference of the tow bar? Thank you in advance.

Best option appears to be Audi cross bars at 147 quid , and Audi bike kits at 80 quid each , supposedly you can fit up to four bikes if you 'top and tail them ' and want to spend 320 squids !!
