My RS6 C5 feels a bit more scary than usual.....

Post by spgprivate » Sat Jun 05, 2010 9:07 am

Hi,

Ive noticed recently my C5 has become very light in the rear, its seems to jump around alot more than usual. When I had it in the the main audi dealer for a service I asked them to check the DRC etc. and they 'said' it was ok but Im not so sure. Over any uneven surface the back end feels very loose. The tyres are almost new.

Anything advice ? anything I can look out for myself ?

Simon

Classic DRC. Do you get the drum roll when you go over a pothole, too? This is caused by the wheel leaving the ground and bouncing a couple of times. Easy to confuse with ABS noise.

The DRC works in diagonal circuits. Front left, rear right, etc. Try driving over bumps to see what happens, left and right.

How did Audi 'check' it? Because when I ask audi to "check" something they lick their finger and put it in the air.

You're not a million miles away from Camberley Audi. Try to take it there as they are very good with diagnosing DRC issues. Rob/Stuart are the chaps to talk to.

See here for very positive testimonials: http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... c&p=386838

Get them tp put it on a ramp, and ask to be rpesent. Look at the shockers and you will see oil stains, simples, no arguing with it.

Didn't have oil stains on mine, though. So absence of proof is not proof of absence;

It's your DRC, Like Shoppinit says you may not see a leak if it's empty.

Oh, and it will kill you if you don't get it fixed. The rear end will step out on a bed that you can usually take a 30mph....

Nothing like driving a 450bhp car with no shock absorbers to get the juices flowing :)

Leaking DRC is more than uncomfortable it's really dangerous, on two occasions the back end of my car stepped out so far I thought I was a gonner!
Had H&R's fitted last week and it has transformed the handling of my car and doesn't look like a jacked up monster truck anymore.

Quoted in case you didn't see this the first time.
I don't think this is exaggerating. Broken DRC is dangerous.

Please, for the love of God, replace DRC with H&R, KW V3 or PSS9 and drive the car like it should be driven.
You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner! :D

1st big trip with my RS6 Avant, and it definitely does not like ridges on the road to the point where I had to slow down as it felt that the rear of the car was getting out of control.

That said, I think it is more due to the big 19" wheels and low profile tyres as on good roads, the handling is great, even fully loaded with a box on the roof. It has the DRC system.

Any car handles well on good roads ;) If the DRC is shot, the wheels will leave the ground you when go over a bump (or "ridge" ;) ).

This is the dangerous thing about DRC, feels like it's working on good roads.
