air conditioning

Post by aRSy » Wed May 26, 2010 6:51 pm

Hi

I get water dripping into the passenger side footwell when the air conditioner is on. Apart from the water, everything is working well. Any ideas?

Cheers

Suspect it is the air con drain as Mooch advises. IIRC the drain is at the passenger side bulkhead behind the glovebox area (close to the main heater box in the centre). You should be able to see a plastic pipe exiting through the bulkhead facing downwards.

From past experiences the end of the pipe (outside the car) has a rubber flap and can get blocked with dirt, leaves etc, thus not allowing the water to run out and instead pi$$es on your carpet. I have even seen them blocked with wax from when the cars were built.

Hope this helps.

I've had about 3 gallons of water in my old A6!
The drain for it is in the middle and yep it blocks up. just push the whole thing out or cut the rubber end off!

Sorry to hijack the thread but it is related::

My AC stinks for about 1 minute after start up then the smell clears (or I get used to it). Smells like sweaty feet. I tried those canister cleaners that you set off inside the car with the full recycle AC setting on and it made no difference. Is there something or a filter I can change to sort this out?
