Tonbridge Audi

Post by sardine » Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:12 pm

Beware of this dealer - part exed my S3 for a B7 RS4 Avant this week. I was lied to and have now ended up with a refund and my car back. The presentation of the RS4 was certainly shocking - stone chips and scratches that we had agreed to be rectified were left for me to pick up on handover resulting in the sales guy doing the touching up (no, not in that way...) and smearing paint all over the bonnet. Wheel nut caps missing, brake discs badly grooved, bald tyres car hadn't even been valeted - just a wash and vac. The sales guy blatantly lied to me on 2 issues which I then exposed and they had no explanation.

That's a real shame. I was under the impression that Audi dealers are required to carry out a 100+ point check on all used cars, with minimum tyre tread etc and you would have expected them to to prep the car to deal with the stone chips etc et.

Caveat emptor, even at Audi dealers. :(

Camberley Audi best in SE for service. Ask for Rob and say you came via the forum - all will be well!

Oh, and don't try and race his fearsome beast - you'll never win!

Aye, I'm absolutely gutted - I searched for ages for the right car and was prepared to compromise on a bit of quality to get the right spec as I figured some TLC from me would soon put an enthusiast level of detail things right. But this experience was bang out of order - I have had a few used cars in my time and never had to return one. The ease with which they just caved in and said we'll give you a refund was also a total surprise. The real bummer is I travelled from Yorkshire to find the car so I have wasted hours and hours and not a few litres of V Power. So the search goes on.....!

I recently used Aberdeen Audi and thought they did a decent job. Service man and woman I dealt with were fine and helpful. Only negative is that its to go back in for a gearbox sump gasket and they failed to see that it had recently been done by another dealer so is covered by warranty for 2 years. I had to get the other dealer to send the invoice and its now being done under warranty.

Whoever brought it round from the service area did nail it a bit which didn't impress me though. If he does it again I'll be having words.

Hmmmm cant answer the last question. I had a B5 RS4 that was purchased from and looked after by Wakefield Audi - a small set up by main dealer standards and a pretty dedicated team who I always found to be really helpful and very enthusiastic about the car. Significant that most of the team I dealt with years ago is still there - a good business in this game is simply about good people - the hardware is usually not the issue. Apart from the 2 'boxes I had in the B5 of course.......

Perth Audi service dept. have always been extremely professional with excellent service. The only negative I have come across was one of their salesman. I was keen on buying a Q7 and asked for a bit of detail on it and the salesman just didn't seem interested. I popped into the dealership to have a look personally and was greeted by the same chap, whom again really didn't seem interested. It may be because I'm only 34 and he's not used to 34 year old's buying Q7's and that thought really pissed me off.....just do your freckin job! GGRrrrr!! I even phoned the week after giving him a 3rd chance to sell me it and he told me that there had been plenty of interest and wasn't interested in discussing possible discounts or trade in values (2005 BMW 530d M Sport). What a <beep>! I actually saw him the other week whilst my '6 was getting a health check........the look on his face when he realised it was mine was priceless!

no mentioned Camberley yet? Rob Chorley and Stuart the master tech are top guys always go out out their way to assist. Prices very reasonable, great customer care for the 18 months of my C5 ownership. Knowledge is second to none on these cars. I wish all main dealers were like these guys!

as for Walton Audi - agree with Linchy. I wouldn't let them change a tyre. Dreadful people to deal with when I had my S4 and even my next door neighbour has had exactly the same experience with his new A4!!

In the East of England (in a time before grizz) I have used Kings Lynn and Norwich Audi.

Kings Lynn I would never use again for three reasons:-

1. "Is this V8?" from one of the techs should have triggered alarm bells
2. My car was taken for a test drive after new brakes were fitted and it came back with smoke billowing from the wheels
3. I found an engine mount sensor fault so instead of replacing it, they just shorted the sensor with a resistor.

Norwich are not great, I use them for some parts only but a colleague at work used them for a service and the readings on the service report said 7mm tread all-round and that was far from the case. It makes you wonder what else they didn’t check correctly.

East Kent Audi nr Canterbury, got to say they are excellent. :D No shares or rellies there. Andy, Jean and Matt service plus Andy Tech who does my Grunter are sooo helpful and friendly. Nothing to much trouble for them. I have used them since 2004 and have found them excellent. Always offered a choice of car to use when mine off road. Also the sales staff always chat and are very friendly even though I did not buy the car from them. Worthwhile for someone on rs6.com  to do a secret shopper to see if my praise is honest. Have just got her indoors a 4 yr old A3 2.0 TFSI Quattro with 53K from London Car Giant and they have welcomed it into their fold. Even helped me get the spare fob from the previous owner [ saved £160 ] by letting me know their address :o to allow contact.!!
