though goes to show the variable rates of labour they charge

its almost as if, if they think you can afford it, they rape you....if you really haggle, they give you reduced rates

Maybe I look cheap as I pretty much always get reduced prices for whatever at Audi Coventry (I actually probably do look cheap...). The trick is to have found evidence of cheaper comparable prices elswhere first and be prepared to go elsewhere if their prices don't match.

When I used let them service my A2 they always did that at as good a price as I could find elswhere, including independants - not that I nescesarily said anything about the cheap price I wanted them to match being an Audi dealer...

So HAGGLE, it should be a way of life anyway, otherwise you're wasting money

I couldn't agree more....It's like anything this day and age, if you don't ask you don't get. Its a bit like my business in that if we are busy and know we will be for a while; any other quotes that need doing are standard rate + 30% or even 50%, if they walk fine, if they take it...MASSIVE BONUS.
However if things are slack or perhaps slowing down, you knock off 30% from standard don't you? Especially if there is a nother quote on the table cheaper. Its better to be ticking over and covering costs than losing the work altogether. I know that they will be back for more later on down the line if the quotes are cheaper or you price match. Perhaps Audi are grooming me :sekret: So after a few sessions of "yes Audi, no problem just fix whatever needs doing, I know you'll look after me" they get you with a hefty bill down the line and recoupoerate.. :assflash:

Not true. All depends on which dealership you go to.
There are plenty of good dealerships out there who do a splendid job and provide a great service.

...you just need to find them ;)
I agree!!

Yeah I have to be honest but I also understand that some are conscientious, a bit like yourselves as per some of the comments by the guys on here.
I really dont mind paying for things with my hard earned cash providing I get what I pay for and sometimes that hasn't happened :-(.
My car is due a cambelt in March next year so I may just nip down to you guys for it to be done and also a good snoop around the workshop.
That would be good.
Cheers

These guys make all their money from aftersales. If they know what people want, then they can give their best prices, and they will be willing to haggle.
I went to Stoke Audi yonks ago. They replaced the belts and tensioners, but not the thermostat which failed a little while after. This is not part of the service, but just good practice to replace as it is cheap and the front end is already off.

.....I have.....
Brighton Audi accepted Stokes written quote, did the work (cambelt water pump rollers etc) £800 inc VAT. Added my own supplied pads and + disks for £70 THEN raised my H&R's three turns to each spring at NO EXTRA COST!

Nice bunch and when I left, they said as BIG service is due in 7K, drop'em a line regarding costings as they will "look after me"!
