I thought I wanted black leather, but the silver has worn very well and does look quite classy.

Funny, because I wanted a light interior and ended up with a black one, and now I wouldn't have anything else.

All the interiors are great...

...except cognac and wood trim Who'll cast the first stone

Definitely don't want cognac, hell no. I could live with the wood if I had to but again not really what I'm after.

But basically the solar roof keeps the fan working and after the aircons been on, this causes windows to steam up.

Solars a pointless feature, but do a search and you'll find more info.

I'm just interested in opinions of actual values not what you want...

...I am looking at spending up to £20k for a car under 80000 miles, recent cambelt, no drc, maybe milltek and history. Does this seem reasonable?

Easilly done... remembering that 80K normally marks a belt change and major service so easilly over a grand there.

I think there is an issue selling these privately, because, as RS 6 owners we know the pain of the cost to up keep these beast, and so when we spend money on tyres/brakes/services/repairs/warranty - we want "some" of it back on resale

but a buyer wont give a monkeys whats been spent on it and so wont give you anything back and will just look at "book" value

Same issue for all ageing performance motors, one person could perceive it as being of value and worth paying £20k for... another person could perceive it as being a risk and worth paying £10k for so that they have a £5k buffer for the unknown's.

I would have loved to have got £19k for my RS6 when I sold it, but reality when I started selling 2 years ago was more like £15-£17k... for a 70,000 mile car at 4 1/2 years old.

You're never going to cover your costs in any car purchase, just remember that at this age of ownership, your costs now ain't depreciation its maintenance, so its actually very cheap ownership even if you're losing £5k a year in maintenance. The costs are now "visible" instead of hidden. When I owned the car, my actual outlay per year wasn't massive, but obviously the big cost was about £8k a year depreciation.

I have a spreadsheet of costs vs age, mileage etc which I did 2 months ago tabulating what was then on PH if anyone wants a copy. Did it when I was considering trading to get a lower mileage car - in the end kept the known beast - 103K and running!!

Sounds a bit like my car is nearly what you are after - Daytona avant with the natural black (I think the same as the black plus which is for sale for £25K on ebay - without the piping) and carbon trim.
I think mine was a fairly shoddy example when purchased in Oct last year and paid £15K - its now 75K.
The problem is I've spent an absolute fortune since - at least 5K, probably more like £7.5K, sorting it out, so I think I'd want at least £20K for mine if that helps you out at all...

I'm sure you've done a good job put I doubt you'll recoup your outlay. There are a few daytona's under 38k miles around £19k at dealers. It's always hard to get back what you've spent, best to keep and enjoy

I'm very pleased with my Daytona Grey Avant, natural black leather, solar panelled sunroof and its only done 38,000
from when I bought it new in May 2003.

Last serice was by Grizz which is where it will go for its next service !

yes, exactly why i took mine off the market, unless you need to sell to put food on the table, there is no reason to take such a hit if your still happy with the car

best to extract more value from it by driving it, then selling for a knock down price

I know in a years time when it has no more warranty & I've had a years worth of cost (repair) free motoring, i'll be more than happy to sell it for the silly offers I was getting

haha, it was nicer in the flesh....

thankfully, my current RS 6 has the matt alu trim
