That looks the dogs doodaas! I was thinking of upgrading my RNS-D to RNS-E, but thats looks a better option. Presumably there is connecting hardness convertors available to make the install relatively easy???

Yeah, wiring up the harness looks simple enough and should only require an adapter. Looking at the rest of the wiring i might leave mine to the pro's incase i get it wrong. Its got bluetooth connections, nav can bus connections, ipod connections and various wires that lead to nowhere (im assuming they are additional inputs etc) so i'll play on the safe side i think.

I think the OP was about a facia adapter? If you're still looking, Joules posted about this and had found: http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=76732 He paid about 30 quid for the fascia adapter ...

Get one of those, sell your RNS-D, TV Tuner, CD changer and TMC/CAN-bus and it's pretty much paid for itself. Tadaa!

I dont think so mate. The system has to be bypassed so that it doesnt interupt the cars systems. The RNS-D is linked to the cars computer for diagnostics and displays etc. If you linked an aftermarket system in this way then the car would probably have a hissy-fit! Would be cool though!

Well, what can i say? Bloody brilliant bit of kit. The sound (and i dont care what you get from your RNS-E) is absolutely crystal clear and with the many different equalizer and effects settings it can be tuned to suit anyones needs. The nav is fantastic and pretty simple to use. Great maps too and has auto adjusting of maps should there be an error in the GPS. I was suprised to see that there is an instruments screen that shows speed, lateral and accelerating forces. Pretty cool and doesnt need any extra equipment to run.
I havnt used the video or dvd functions yet but it wont be long. The radio is spot on and easily finds even the minor stations.

I'll get some pics up of the finished article, probably by the weekend. The instal took the tech 1 hour so is a properly easy fit...... and the finish, although not totally OEM looking isnt far off the mark.

Right, pictures tommorrow but one thing before i do. Do you have any issues watching video via your ipod? All other functions are very crisp and easy to use but then this popped up.

The Avic d3 with the supplied ipod cable only works (video) up to gen 5. My nano is fine for music and pics but wont do video. seems i need a gen 5 video or equivalent. The video output on the newer models and nano is encrypted apparently and there are talks about getting a newer cable made.

Other than that though its bloody fantastic, just need to get on ebay and find a ipod video for sale.
