to buy or not to buy?????

Post by shane1977 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 6:15 pm

hi folks, i'm a bit of a blow in from the RS4 section and i have a few questions.

a guy i have known for a number of ears is curently selling his RS6+ and i am considering it to run alongside a few other cars.

it is a late 2004, Avus silver with a full service history. the main problem is that there are 107,000 miles on the clock.

he is looking for about £11,000 - £12,000 for it and i was wondering if it would be worth a punt.

i won't be doing big miles in it but would have the odd run to south of france totalling 3000 mile round trip!!!!

any help or advise would be great.

cheers shane

£11 - £12k? If it had 500k on the clock that would be cheap. Are you sure its a Plus model for that price? I would be interested as with the money you are saving you can put it toward any repair bills etc. Has it got a good history? Check over this site for all the usual pick up points and you wont go wrong.

If it is a plus you could buy it then sell it straight on and make a small fortune at that price!!
Then buy an extremely low mileage normal RS6 and the money saved could get it mapped to above plus power, get coilovers fitted and get all the optics blacked. Then you will have a plus (theoretically) only faster and have some dosh in your pocket and also a lower mileage car!!
However, there are things that go wrong on these cars at any miles so this one might be in the postition to only need basic services and tyres for the next 30K. I wouldn`t let mileage put you off

What he said ^^^^^.

The engine will go on forever in these cars. Gearbox durability is debatable, but can be prolonged by good servicing and reducing the number of 0-60's you attempt. Junk the DRC with the money saved and fit coilovers. After that, like mattler said, it'll just be serviceng costs - fingers crossed.

according to glasses, it has a trade in of £12,650....but in reality, rarity of the beast means it worth...what, £19k on a forecort ??

mileage is not an issue if its been looked after....mines on 93k and is fit and fast as a fiddle, but mines been helped by a lifetime of Audi Warranty - but if you know this guy for Ears then surely he can fill you in...

If you dont want it, give me his number and I'll take it !

Check the VIN number, located at the bottom right of the screen or on the bulkhead behind the engine. If the first numbers are 999 then its a Plus and a bargain!
