IIRC Griz offers the C6 Ceramics as an alternative to the straight swap.

I guess the cost will be £280 (for his fitting kit) plus whatever the discs are from Audi. Still likely to be cheap compared with £6K (fronts only) from Movit

What's the cross-drilling for on ceramic brakes? Just for show?

I like that question as it means to me that there are people out there who "really" understand brakes.

I checked the price at one point and I'm sure they were £4000 - £5000 plus fitting. I still think this is do-able for the OEM desirability and the knowing looks of anyone in the know who spots them,..

Plus they've got to be good, haven't they?

The cross drilling is to allow debris from the pads to be discarded IIRC... Same as on the steel items.

Admitedly the big brakes from Grizz would be cheaper.

Nothing to do with debris....Try gasses expansion and generation

Lot of people think that holes in the disks are for "roughing" the pads or getting rid of bits that come off the pads. Not true, when massive heat is generated between the pad and disk it gives off gasses, those gasses cushion the friction effect between the two. Vents and holes are for gas escape to reduce fade. I`m not an expert on ceramics but as far as I know when using ceramics there are no such gasses generated or they are seriously reduced.
I may be wrong though as the Porsche PCCB system implements cross drilled disks

I readily admit to not being the expert on this, however I cannot see why they would be there unless required for some reason...

Nevermind - I certainly won't be able to afford them until well into 2010 if I get the Miltek and a paint job.

They simply allow cooling much quicker than 'solid' discs. Not sure of the technicalities of gasses expanding/contracting, but sensibly more space for air to circulate...
