Audi or independent service - Audi inclusive warranty?

Post by deanobeano » Thu Apr 02, 2009 11:30 am

I Have a 2 year Audi All component warranty with my car.

Ideally, I would prefer to have it serviced by Grizz.

Does anyone know where I stand on the Warrnty if I do?

I see, slightly different information on the Audi webpage

Firslty this:-
Your unique guarantee can be further extended when you buy your vehicle, or provided your car is maintained by an Audi Authorised Specialist, you can renew this every 12 months* thereafter.

Which I think is just about extending the warranty

And this from the T&C's

Servicing for Audi vehicles: Keep the vehicle serviced in accordance with the service schedule recommended by the manufacturer of the covered vehicle. We recommend that the servicing is completed by a franchised dealer using Manufacturer's Original Parts.

You must keep all servicing receipts and invoices.

Failure to keep your car serviced in accordance with the Manufacturer's Service Schedule will void the Guarantee.

So my take on this is its OK to use an independant, so long as parts etc are Approved.

Anyone else with an Audi warranty using independents?

The Warranty is important to me 'cos of the potential costs if things go wrong. I don't want the insurer for Audi sneaking out of a claim etc.

But I would prefer someone who knows what they are doing working on the car.

As always, your thoughts would be appreciated

Grizz - do you service cars already with Audi All Inclusive warranties ?

In a similar position having just purchased one in tha pst few eeeks from Audi.

My guess woudl be that Audi would wriggle out of a claim if they did not see authorised Audi dealers stamps in the service book

I might be wrong but would you take the risk

Hi Chaps,

I am 99% sure that you can get your car serviced where you like and the warranty will be valid. I am pretty sure this is even with a brand new motor. It would be good if someone could confirm though?!?! You could call another dealer and enquire??

I look after a lot of cars with a Audi warranty , they are all under written by car care plan not Audi themselves.

As long as they use audi parts and are vat registered the warranty should be fine, i had my last car (subaru cough* impreza) serviced at specialist from new rather than suabru and claimed alot of warranty stuff.

When i spoke to the Audi warrenty people, they said "under the standard manufactures 3 year warrenty then the car can be serviced at any vat registered garage provided genuine audi parts are used, however under the extended AUDI warrenty then it must be dealer serviced. Then he said, if say the driveshaft failed and the car had had its oil, plugs etc changed at any garage then that wouldnt effect the claim. things like cambelt change done at dealers to cover cambelt failures etc!
