Ok all, just to keep everyone updated with where we are now.
I have still not recieved a response Richard Starkey, but things appear to be happening. I have recived a number of 'copies' from owner who have emailed him directly, and things do 'seem' to be happening with their cases, but to my mind, no where near enough is being done. Offering a 'few quid' off a bill is not good enough!.

Please keep the details comming, and i will be on Richard case again this again, and for as long as it take until this matter is rectified!

Hi Calum,
Easiest way is to copy and paste the last list into the response box, then add your detail on at the end, or you can just list your problem and i will add them to the list for you.

As for the post i just made, I lied, i didnt wait untill tomorrow to re-email Richard Starkey, i just sent him a new mail as i recieved an email from an owner who's tale of woe just had to be put across stright away. I will copy & paste the mail for you all to see:

Dear Richard,
Whilst I am aware that you are 'a very busy person', I have no option but to forward you a particular email i have received with regard to the issues we have been in discussion about. I had made a comment in a previous email about it taking somebodies death to get this issue 'sorted' once and for all, and once you read the following i think you will have no option but to agree we need this problem fixing NOW.

I received this email from one of the online forum users, and it has really nailed home 'the worst case' scenario that we all face as long as the DRC is fitted to the RS6/RS4. I will copy & paste the emails contents to you.

Hi Stuart

First of all well done for fighting this case.

I’m absolutely fed up to the back teeth with Audi and their lack of acknowledgement of this issue.

My details are as follows and I’m trusting you with this buddy

Car RS6

Year 2003

Mileage 36600

Reg **53 ***

Name ***** *****

It at Hatfield Audi at the moment,

Ive had the regional manager for Audi look at my car and he fought this last case for me in getting the socks replaced.

I last had them replaced in Jan this year and drove 133 miles and a shock literally exploded.

This happened at 70 MPH while I was on the motorway and I nearly smashed in to the Armco because of the explosion. I also had my 6 month baby girl in the car and my other half so you can imagine how shaken up everyone was.

I also has hydraulic fluid all over the brakes !!!!!!

If you need any more info then please let me know

Regards

I am sure you have no option but agree that this particular incident is both shocking and was potentially life threatening for the owner and his family. I am of the opinion the gods were 'smiling' on him that day and he was extremely lucky to walk away unharmed. The outcome could have been so different.

I know my previous claims of it taking somebodies death to get this matter looked into properly might have seemed totally 'over the top' but having seen this owners case, I can honestly say I am now 'frightened' to even drive my car until i have had the suspension totally replaced with a more traditional coilover set up. The only problem I have with that is I don't see why i should shell out the 2000 pounds it will cost. I certainly will not allowing my children to travel in the RS6 if i do use it.

I am sure will agree the sender of this email to me was indeed a 'very lucky man', both he and his family had a close call that day, and this is just the sort of thing i am trying to get across to Audi with regard to the DRC and the fact it is life treatening.

I have had several other owners email their details, and believe me, each case is just as worrying, just lucky no one else has had this sort of failure (yet)

I will update as soon as i hear any more.

Stuart

My 53 plate '03 Avant (70K) recently suffered a catastrophic failure at speed on the M50.In the dealers now.Valves diagnosed as shot but warranty company playing hard to get so no idea yet what else may be needed, if anything.Pretty scary thing to have happen when you are on the move! Not long in my ownership so don't know what may have been done in the past. Was a one owner car when I purchased, with full main dealer history from supplying dealer.
Cheers.

Hi turbonutter,
Sorry to hear of your woes with the DRC m8, but please do forward you story onto Richard Starkey of Audi, tell him you too had a total failure at speed on the motorway, and tell him your car is in now to be fixed, give him details of which garage etc, he does seem to be dealing with individual cases for others so might get something done for your case.

OK, received a response from Richard Starkey last night, but it was only in relation to the owners case above i emailed him about. Not good enough in my book, he seems to want to deal with this on a 'fix as you crash' basis. So i re-emailed him this morning, as follows:

Dear Richard,
Whilst i appreciate your efforts on Mr P****'s behalf, I do feel we are getting slightly off course here. My initial concept of contacting you was to get this problem sorted for all owners, not on a 'fix as you crash' basis. I really do feel that Audi as a company are trying to negate any responsibility for the DRC system, and to look at each case individually, whilst helpful for for the customer concerned, doesn't really get to the source of the problem.
What we as owners need is a 'final solution' to our problems, and to be perfectly honest with you, if i was in Mr P****'s position, there would be a very hefty lawsuit coming your way. From the feedback i have been receiving it would appear that not only is there a problem with the DRC system as a whole, but also a underlying problem with your dealer network. I have been hearing of conflicting advice given out with regard to the DRC system, with one dealer saying one thing and another saying different.
I would appreciate it if Mr Jeremy Hicks would contact me, as my initial email was to him. I don't want to appear ungrateful for your efforts, but i really do feel that we are getting no where fast on this. I am still to get any response from the original email with regard to the letter issued by Audi USA, and now feel that all I am getting from Audi UK are stalling tactics. If you are hoping I will lose interest on this matter then I am afraid you are mistaken.
I really dont see what the problem is for Audi, you know as well as i do that there is a serious safety issue with the DRC system, and rather than do the right thing and fix it, you as a company come up with half hearted efforts such as the 'boot fix' which we all now know doesn't work (Mr S***** B****** email can confirm this, 700 miles covered after fix and now leaking again). Its time Audi 'bit the bullet' on this matter and fix it once and for all, and by that I mean replace every RS6/RS4 suspension with coilovers. It is only a matter of time before there is a fatality and as a human being, would you really want that on your conscience?.
My advice to you is listen to your customers, most of us have been loyal Audi owners, having owned more than just our current Audi's. Do you as a company really want to lose the customer base you have worked so hard to establish over a number of years?, especially in these financially challenging times?. I have spoken to a number of RS6 owners who are now looking at BMW M5's or Mercedes E63 AMG's as a replacement for their RS6's. The simplified reason for this is they are all totally fed up with Audi's attitude and the lack of reliability with the RS6's suspension (and gearbox, but that's a different matter all together).

You know there is a problem with the DRC, so FIX IT!

Regards

Stuart Hurd
