I had the same problem when I had my screen replaced. It took autoglass about 6 weeks to sort themselves out. The screen is specific to the rs6 and v8 allroad and is actually deeper than a standard a6 screen. In the end they used the chassis number to order a screen from audi....VERY expensive apparently.

This may get boring over the next few weeks if previous posts are a sample. Friday night, I had a call today from screen people, they have now given VIN number to Audi dealer and ordered a screen from them. It will be next week when it arrives. They have told my insurance company that the problem is I have had the wrong screen fitted in the past, even though it fits correctly and bears the Audi rings, Tossers. Will keeep you posted. Keep shooting them partridges. I only shoot clays normally but this has peeed me off soooo much :piss:

Think I'll need a new screen as had a thunderous wack on the windscreen the other day, not from a bird thou, must have been a stone. . . got a small crack, but had a stone chip also, so may aswel get a new one

Do you have to pay the excess on your insurance ?

The excess on my policy for windscreen is £70, but its only £60 on my other cars? They are loading the RS6 a little bit more, I bet they load me next year to recoup the expense they are incuring now they have to order it from Audi. Did I mention that in the last post? Oh well its my age if I did.

I thought you would be bored of hearing but just for david i will up date. Its lunch time Tuesday the 17th one week and two days after getting it broken. I am still waiting for a call from National Windscreens to say the screen has arrived from Audi. On Sunday i met a fellow RS6 owner in a carpark and relayed my story. He had a screen fitted some months ago by Autoglass, so we had a look at his. At the bottom corners of the screen were some open slots about 50mm x 6mm. When he asked Autoglass about them they said "its for drainage"! These slots are not there on the original Audi installation. The original screen has the black wiper scuttle section meeting the screen perfectly with nothing in between, it clips in to a piece that is bonded to the back of the screen. The screens offered to me had an extra section bonded to the base of them. This is some 6mm lower and forces the scuttle section towards the front of the car exposing a hole/slot at each corner. Also at the to of the screen the bonded section was a different shape to the original and would need trimming off to fit in.
I didnt turn down the ones offered, but was told they are wrong and shown the difference.
I dont know what happens if the Audi one looks the same? If it arrives?

Thanks Doustsi1, defo useful info.

Do you (or anyone else) have the definative part number for the RS6 windscreen, I can then ensure this matches the screen autoglass bring along so I can tell them to bugger off if they brought a standard A6 one ?

I saw the one on ebay but it is for a saloon.
After a quick search found this, dont speak the lingo but shows 10 different screens depending on part of VIN number. I assume it may be as big a selection with UK models also.
As far as checking part numbers, Problem will be glass companies dont buy from main dealers unless they cant get a patern one to fit.

GGGRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did get a new windscreen fitted about 2-3 weeks ago, fitted perfectly

AND GUESS WHAT ! today on A1 - - - BANG ! another bloody stone chip !

What is it with the RS 6 and stone chips, in 100k miles of my driving life I'd never got a stone chip on the windscreen before !

Maybe its the velocity at which im hitting them

I cracked mine last week, sounds really similar to this, it was a "stone chip on the M3!!!"

Directline have agreed to install OEM glass. The Autoglass fitter mentioned that they might approve it if I asked and suprisingly they did. It'll take an extra week to come from Audi but worth the wait.
