I think Minhea (MRC) used to do all of the remaps for Kim Collins (QST) many years ago.

Highly recommended.

Oh please no, this isn't true!!!! I know Kim well and we get along very well, which is good in this business and doesn't happen very often, but I have never supplied him with remaps, he does MTM which are highly respected, including by us.

I've used Kim at QST myself on a previous car, highly recommended.

They also have a Maha 4wd rolling road and are located in the South East. Good for me as not much else down this way!

I'd like to add my pennies worth ....

My RS6 had a stage 1 remap in June 2003 by Kim Collins at QST who represents MTM.

I used APS in Brackley for a Bilstein & Hodgkis anti roll bar installation in October 2008; they performed a good job and commented on the beauty & performance of my RS6.

Last week's visit to MTM in Germany to test drive a 730 bhp V10 RS6 confirmed for me that MTM are well experienced in the mechanics & management of Audi motor cars. I'd highly recommend QST & before anyone accuses me of any personal 'gain' .. I have nothing to do with QST !

Regarding my recent post "Remap trial" Rupert and myself in a few weeks are planning to meet up with a few forum members to have demonstrated the wonders of remapping and Millteks, at the moment we have been offered the services of a custom code and an MRC tuned car, so i am looking forward to the experience.
Also just to add my 4-penneth i think it is important to remember that having the most BHP doesn't mean you have the quickest or nicest car to drive. I have seen in motorbike tuning that guys go all out to obtain them last few ponies and to be left with an un-rideable peaky power delivery. I know the size of the engine and twin turbos mean RS6s should never be lacking in power or torque but it will be good to compare which map/exhaust combo gives the best results.

I have been to MRC and had a service and custom map from them on my B5 RS4. It has been by far the best service from an independent so far. I have not had a custom code map, but from reading and searching via t'internet IMO MRC is your best bet. Doug and co will look after you and cater for your needs

I prefer APS, Good customer service. Think they do the Sportec remap (similar to MTM I think). Got a sale on at the Mo too ! (Not related to me whatsoever)

Not sure, but when I spoke to them they said that the process does involve tweaks of uploaded software over a few hours including driving. I was more interested in the R&D effort that went into the end product by Sportec, who also do Porsche mods etc...

Fairly basic questions here:

1. Does the car actually need to be physically present to do the stage 1 upgrade or can the ECU be sent to the tuner, or can a software upload be produced? (note i live in the Middle East where there are a few tuners who claim to be able to increase boost/remap but not sure if I trust them on an RS6) It would obviously be a generic upgrade like this, not custom.
2. Does the stage 1 remap alter the tranny ECU too or just the engine ECU, or does it depend on the tuner?

Cheers
