"Menu" wheel/switch

Post by GregR1 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 12:41 pm

Posts coming thick and fast from me now!

The menu wheel/button by the wingmirror controls doesn't seem to be working on my car. What should it do? Toggle between nav, CD, radio and TV or something else? If its just to toggle between the display then I think I'll leave it be .. if its something more important however ...

Thanks,

Greg

when you say doesnt work ? ? ? just make sure you press the actual button that has menu written on it, then use the toggle wheel. . . . dont press the toggle wheel itself to bring up the menu

if its still broke then fyi, it tells you when your next due a service, but not sure how correct this is as mine is wrong (assuming 10k fixed servicing). . . it lets you set a speed warning (handly set at license losing 100mph), it lets you turn on the tyre pressure monitors and set the pressures, think it also lets you set date and time etc ?

anything iv missed ?

I bet it's working... The trick is that you press Menu where it actually says "Menu". It's more than just a label.

Cheers chaps - hands up to the fact I haven't been pressing 'menu', rather was just pressing the wheel itself

It's got to be the most common 'DOH' moment of all, this one...
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Greg's Button

Post by chriswebb9 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:18 pm

Hi Greg, hopefully it's not me suffering from too much wine, but I didn't read a reply to your query on the menu button, which covered the actual use of the MENU button and the DIS screen it controls??

If you've been fiddling and found out what you can do by now, then move on, but if you haven't, then you may find the breif outline useful.

When you press 'menu' (lower centre console by mirror dial for those new to this blog) your RED Driver Info Screen changes (this is the red LED panel between the speedo and tacho on the dash). What you'll notice is, that the display has now changed from say MPG, or mini sat assist mode, to what now becomes some set-up menus for changing things. Such as - what the fuel computer shows you, adjusting/setting the speed warning indicator beeper, to setting the clock, or storing the tyre pressure settings.

It's a useful little knob (unlike me), but generally once you've been in there and set it, then, there's little need to regularly go back into it - I'm still talking about the menu button by the way! :D

Sorry if i've bored anyone with this.

Regards,
CW

When I was test driving the car, I too pressed the button expecting to see something happen on the big display controlling the sat nav or something. Just the DIS and as above nothing to get too excited about!
