Pads & Disks all round

Post by adamh » Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:24 am

Just had a sharp intake of breath moment when I received the news that I need pads & disks on all corners.

My question is - are there other options to the manufacturer parts that would ease the pain of the costs without reducing the stopping power of this heavy car?

For info the parts costs quoted were £250 for the front pads, £593 front discs, £61 rear pads & £555 rear disks.

Thanks

Adam

Although that is far from cheap, that aint a bad price what you were quoted to be honest. I am therefore presuming that wasn't from Audi... (???)

I don't know about aftermarket discs but for OEM parts, try the E-Bay shop called DSGWagen. They sell genuine VAG parts but it's not as expensive as Audi. Regarding pads, try the EBC ones maybe!

The quote is from a local Audi specialist (Autohaus). They looked into EBC disks but they do not do them.

Will have a look at DSGWagen - will I need part numbers for that?

Cheers

I payed approx 800 inc to replace front drilled disks and also pads (OEM) a few hundred miles ago not a single squeak from them yet (fingers crossed). Think the rears should be cheaper.

I think the rear discs are actually more expensive because they are manufactured in lower quantites.

The parts price from DSGWagen for genuine Audi drilled discs and pads front + rear should be around 1040 inc vat.

Thanks - have emailed DSGWagen for a quote to supply all - that would be a major saving!

Seems odd they can supply genuine parts so much lower than Audi themselves...

He has quoted 1120 inc delivery which I will probably go with.

Thanks for the input everyone - appreciated.

Agree with the above, I've bought my last two sets of B7 discs from DSGWagen.

I've just been quoted £175 each for front disks and £212 for front pads by my local stealer...sounds pretty reasonable to me, a total of £756 including VAT and fitting

I have some pretty much new front pads that I don't need, if of interest. If you drop me a mail I can send you pics etc.
