I filled up tday on tesco 99. 123.9 pl. 5p pl off 118.9pl. Cheap enough.

Its a <beep> time for everyone at the moment, and I like a lot of folks are feeling the pinch, but I still maintain that if we all keep calm we can weather the storm. I would sooner let my 6 rot away than sell it for 15k to some smarmy chancer who is taking advantage of the current financial situation.
So when house price's drops and you can afford to buy you will pay the higher price or lower as it is a buyers market that's business unfortunately someones loss is another persons gain. I have been on both ends

What I am saying that a lot of what has happened like the fuel shortages due to strikes, Northern Rock, etc etc was down to panic and panic alone. If everyone had sat tight and not listened to the scare mongers I would still ahve my shares in NR.

while people are posting that these cars only worth 18k then that is all you will get for it as people have read ON HERE that you think your cars are only worth this! The problem is not the road tax or petrol prices. Is the fact that nobody is taken out loans etc due to morgage rates and the house prices!

My car is certainly not worth 18k which is why I'd never sell it for that. I know times are tough but the more people that let their cars go for insulting offers the less all our cars will be worth.

ok, I'm looking to buy an rs6 avant (baby due and I've got a 3.2 tt - it doesn't work) and I understand everyones point here, BUT, if I go to glass, parkers etc they are suggesting sub-20k for a standard 30k 54 plate privately. That's about the only guide I have here...

Are the values really that bad right now?

Sorry that this post seems a bit opportunistic given the financial issues people could be dealing with

sorry, my bad. That was part ex price. I just remembered wrong. It was about 21.5k according to what car valuations. Either way it's lower than I expected. Thing is, where is it getting pricing from?

Look at pistonheads/autotrader for true prices in my opinion, the trad is struggling at the moment and in may cases main dealers are cheaper than independants, they have more cash so can drop prices further to keep the cashflow going...

I'm looking for one at the moment and wouldn't pay more than 17-18 on an 03 with average miles.
Theres plenty out there and loads of bargaining to be done as theyre difficult to shift right now.
Main dealer prices start from 21k and thats with 1 years warranty. Thats before you've bargained.

The best bargaining chip at a dealers at the moment is the extended warranty and tyre insurance. I have been told that they will not shift on car prices but will "throw in" the extra's. Its what happened with me in January. Paid £26k got 12 months as standard then extra 3 years plus tyre and MOT failure insurance free.

never trust the parkers price, here is a good example
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-pric ... 5&plate=66

And this is a correct price
