I have the H&R kit as well and I am very happy with it - but, just recently, my car has gone back to have the MFSW looked at again as well as the tracking/balancing done (felt slight vibrations above a certain speed). Whilst they had the car, I got a phone call saying that my front tyres have worn unevenly since they fitted the kit and this was due to the suspension (they fitted not too long ago) had settled and bedded in, and that because of this, needed to be raised slightly (5mm or so) to combat the excessive negative-camber issue. They also agreed to replace my front tyres with part-worns (but reputable name) free of charge because it was their doing and had fitted the kit slightly too low (as already stated, by about 5mm).

How credible does this sound to any experts on here? Does lowering the car too much increase the likelihood of adverse negative camber and cause uneven tyre wear? If so, is there a sweet point to aim for heightwise whereby any lower, and uneven wear starts to occur? Or is what I've been told a cock-and-bull story? I'd love to hear some thoughts on this as I'm slightly concerned now!

Don't mean to bang on, but does anyone know if what I described sounds very common? I have searched through Google all about lowering and the effect it has on 'camber' and 'toe' etc., and it seems that various people on other forums have had certain issues with inner tyre wear after lowering. Anyone?

Well I've been doing some research around the net and for the most part, people who have had this problem and posted on various boards have been advised that the most likely cause was that the tracking was out (amongst other suggestions). Ride-height shouldn't make a vast amount of difference and there are several people running lowered cars (one guy 60mm) who has no such inner-wear issues. This would all lead me to believe that so long as the alignment is performed correctly after fitting, then whatever the height shouldn't be a problem. Someone suggested that the alignment should be done on a 'Hunter' type system since it does the measurements 'on the fly' and is not reliant on factory (book) settings. Am I getting warmer guys?

I have not noticed any abnormal tyre wear on my car yet.
However Grizz did recomend that I get the tracking and 4 wheel alignment done............as it happens its going in tomorrow to be done.

Will let you know if there is any difference.

Cool, good luck. If you get a printout of your geometries, any chance of posting your before and afters (or even just typing it out)? If I can get hold of mine, I'll try and do the same although I may not get access to it as all my work so far has been warranty. I'd be fascinated to see the difference the kit makes and how accurately the settings can be adjusted.

Get it decked, then get the alignment done. You can always wind it back up again afterwards.

Funnily enough i raised the suspension after taking it for a drive, it handled like greased weasel sh1t.

i'm interested in whether people report handling improvements after lowering their cars?

ime on the sorts of roads i drive fast (non a-roads) i need all the suspension compliance i can get with the rs with standard ride height if the speeds are up. but i have standard suspension (and working) drc...

now the car is raised a tadge and the camber is sorted, it handles a lot better than when i bought the car, with the DRC working, i'd recomend it to any one
