Brand new RS6 Avant - My story

Post by BiscuitWheels » Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:44 am

Hi all...new to the site and hopefully gonna be in the RS6 owner fold soon but would like some opinions so firstly here is my story.
I have come across an amazing find, a brand new Audi RS6 Avant. Yes it is 5 years old but it has a mere 2906 miles on the clock, been garaged all its life and never seen rain. It was owned by a wealthy friend of my sisters who sadly passed away but his wife is now ready to part with it and wants it to go to a good home. I fell in love with the car soon as i saw it...covered in a years worth of dust and had a dead battery but started without hesitation when charged. A 2 day test drive was taken where i washed the car to find it as if it was just from the showroom and drove perfectly. The spec was massive an im fairly certain he jus said fully load it please! Its is bluey silver in colour with the recaros in black leather. The stereo locked out due to the wrong code being put in but i understand this is a simple fix? Untill i started reading this great website i was all ready to buy but then i start reading about this dreaded DRC system an how they all seem to fail. I noticed on one reciept from the car that it says noisy suspension replace LHR seal so now im cautious. To be fair the price i can get it for would make you sick so even if i had to replace the suspension with Billys then id still have a bargain! It certainly is ok at the mo as it drives like a dream but should it go seems to me that replacement is the only cure so my only question really is, am i just being a worrier an should i jus buy the dam thing?!! Is the Bilstien kit expensive or hard to fit do you know?

welcome, sounds lush, especially price/mileage etc. if you say it's as good as it shoud be, i'd buy the thing. If you are worried about the suspension pm grizz on this site, he can help you out.

Thanks Elgin...what i should of added to my wee story is that i live in the Channel Islands so im really re-stricted to reputable garages to help me. The main dealer over here is really poor with customer care, they just want money!! I see from other posts that Billys are the way to go and i can source them VAT free from Demon tweeks at a reasonable £1100 but i didnt know if it was a bit of a mission to fit or not. I have a friend with his own garage now who has worked for big brand named cars so i imagine he is quite up to the job. Ha! Dam DRC system hasn't even gone yet and im already worried!! :bash: Cant wait to get the car though!

my rs6 had a jersey/guernsey plate on it. i was told you can't get bilstien's pss9's anymore for the rs6, just k+w and h+r. you'd have to pm grizz to find out for sure. don't worry about drc to much, once its changed you got no worries, they are awesome cars. take it to france and open it rightup.

Just buy it!

If it has only got 2000 odd miles on it, I wonder if you may even have a case to go to Audi under warranty???? The DRC is a pain in the arse but certainly not a thing to stop you from buying the mother, father, brother and sister of all sensible family cars.............

I think you could be right there Cornish. Jus bein overcautious i think and considering he probably got no change out of 60grand plus it got serviced just before he passed, i would be an absolute idiot not to get it! One Mitsubushi L200 truck up for sale! haha! Even if i was unlucky enough for it to go it would be an aprox £1500 fix hopefully so soon as it's in my hands i will get some piccies posted up. Can't be many new C5's round i guess!

Hi Grizz. Thanks for the welcome. I see you are the RS6 man! :notworthy: I don't mind you asking at all but due to the circumstances of how im getting the car i dont want to say exactly how much or appear to be bragging if it should ever get back to her. The seller is just the nicest lady ever and wants it to go to someone who will love it again. Lets just i am a very lucky boy and even a dealer buying it in would be dancing a little jig! I was cautious over the suspension issue it had but appears to of been cured for now and with a little bit of luck forever!
