LPG
starting to have second thoughts now...! My biggest concern was whether the twin turbo engine would need too much "injected" and overwhelm the system. I am going to do a bit more research before making up my mind. The problem is I do 30-40k a year, the RS6 is my daily driver and so the fuel is a considerable cost...
Will let you know if I find out anything, - Mattysupra, did your friend have it fitted to an RS6 and was it covered by any sort of warranty / insurance - I suspect not but you never know.

I run LPG on my daily drive, a 4ltr Jeep with no issues, but I have a friend who runs LPG on his SL600 and has issues. The LPG injectors can't get enough fuel into the cylinders when he boots it and the system switches back to petrol. IMHO, I would save the 2.5K and buy a diesel run around, that way you'll appreciate the beast more when you get to drive it at weekends...and you won't mind leaning on the loud pedal a bit more

No it was on a toyota supra. Still a 3 litre twin turbo engine but after his little explosion it was taken off and not re-fitted.swilkins wrote:starting to have second thoughts now...! Good choice. I appreciate the '6 is a thirsty beast and petrol is expensive, but given the possible complications that could incur, I think it's a good choice. Two and a half aint cheap either and like I said before, as opposed to spending that much in one go, you could just keep it in your pocked and it'll cover the fuel.

LPG is higher octane but lower specific energy than petrol. So without ECU mods, you'll use more LPG than petrol, but if you mod the ECU to take advantage of the higher octane then you'll get those losses back and perhaps more so on a twin turbo. But then you can't run on petrol, unless you have a multi program like those offerred by APR. LPG only cars can have starting problems, which means that installers often leave the petrol tank in and have the car start on petrol.skiwi wrote:i believe that lpg is 100ron - many cars make do without a modified ecu map, but i'd want to have this option with a hi-po car. the other big issue is range - just not anywhere as good as with petrol. also you lose a fair amount of usable space in the vehicle.
Overall, I wouldn't be doing this to an RS6
