I understand from the owners manual that snow chains can only be fitted to the RS6 which has 18" wheels ie. can't be fitted to most uk cars. I am taking my car to the french alps next week and understand that it is a legal requirement to have snow chains in the Alps. Anyone got thoughts on compliance/actually having chains on 19" wheels. Thanks
Jonathan

RS6 Snow chains
Hi No chains with 19" rims !! Look at Spyke Spyders, the are Austrian and I used them on my M5 and my Hartge 5 Sp over 15 years when I lived in Scotland . If you go to 18" rims with 40 profile will still give you same height. Audi state 17" rims for chains in the handbook. The other to look at are the Wheel ''Socks'' often advertised in Auto Express. these are new technology but I have not tried them. If I have to use anything on my RS6 it would be the Spyders. They were the Pooches peaches and you can run on tarmac up to 40 mph without problems, not like chains
