Why oh why are RS6 horns crap? and is there a replacement?

Post by FlyRS6 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 11:04 pm

Can anyone please recommend a alternative manufacturer to replace the standard horns on Audi RS6. I dont know if this is a specific problem for the 6 or whether other models suffer.

mine is barely audible and the bit that is would embaress a peddle car

please help gang. If I could i'd put a high and low pitch Ford unit on off a mondeo or a BMW high and low as per the M3 as these are as they should be loud and deep

whats the point of driving a car like an RS6 and having a horn like pinky and perky on helium!

please help

Mine's crap, to the point that I don't use the horn much anymore.
I might investigate adding a pair + relay (finding space for them will be difficult) i.e. leaving the original pair connected and in place. (I don't want to remove any bodywork. )

I thought mine was crap, but the car is well insulated. When I stood outside and my son pushed the horn, it was fine.

Sure that both horns are working? Sounds like your low tone horn is not working, and the high tone on its own sounds crap.

Horns

You can get a nice pair of Fiamm screamers with compressor in the NSF engine bay. I have a pair of old ex Fire Engine long horns fitted and they cause loss of bowel function at 500 yards :)
