DRC repair situation getting worse?

Post by Daveperc » Mon Dec 17, 2007 6:19 pm

Hi all,

Just picked the beast up from Camberley again following service (great service again BTW 8) ), but as usual there is evidence of failing rear strut :( .

Not a problem as I have the warranty, but Rob tells me rear struts are now on back order, and can take up to four weeks to come through!! Fortunately the car has yet to show any real symptoms of the failure, though I bet it will by the time another month (=1500-2000 miles) have passed  .

Anyone else had this from their dealer?

At my current rate of one failure each six months I wonder if I can get a standing order put in!!

Ah the joys and pain of RS6 ownership!

Hmmmm. Now I'm depressed.

Mine's going in to Swindon Audi this Wednesday with oily rear dampers and a lack of damping. The units on there are only 300 miles old too. (Replaced FOC before I picked the car up two weeks ago).

I'll let you know what they say then.

I've just been informed that rear damper pairs (only to be fitted in pairs, apparently) are available. Haven't actually seen them yet though.

I was just thinking . . . as mine lasted a whole 200-300 miles before leaking, could there have been a dodgy batch? I guess we'll never know?

Season's greeting to all,
Graham

If they replace both rears they'll have to do all four as they have to be replaced in diagonal pairs IIRC.

Talking with Camberley it seems some dealers do still have some in stock, but won't release them to other dealers because of the back order situation. Persdonally I'll wait till Camberley get mine in.

Good luck with yours

You're right Dave.

Apart from two at dealers, now no RH ones available in the UK or Germany. Swindon ordered some for me today but won't even have a delivery date probably until the new year.

More pain than joys for me so far!

Kind regards, Graham

Hi - mine has just been to audi for a quote for my nsf and osr, and they are saying that the 'accumulator', is also on back order (i think this is a valve) ....... They told me 4 weeks lead time. Personnally it is of no relevance to me as i am just using the audi quote to finance the upgrade to Bilsteins - grizz - i'll be on the phone soon !! ;-)

Essentially it just goes to show that these items are in demand !!
