whats the difference between the 450/480bhp rs6??
Whats the difference between the two rs6 cars ? Is it just an up graded ecu?
RE: whats the difference between the 450/480bhp rs6??
No.
The 480bhp car is the exclusive RS6+.
It was only available in avant style, and as well as the ECU tweak, the main differences are :-
Additional cooling (radiators) behind the intercoolers.
'Cross-drilled' discs all round.
De-chromed.
RNS-E Sat-nav/TV (larger screen, better features)
'Plus' plaque denoting its unique number (out of the 999 which were originally intended)

yes, the (black-tipped) sports exhaust was standard...
249 here. One cool thing about the Plus is the VIN number ends with the build number of your car, so in my case 999249.
Also, assuming there is 999000 to 999999, that would make 1000 RS6 Plus.
Rumour has it that the gearbox is a little better than the standard RS6.
Natural leather was also a Plus only thing.
Brake dust (Titanium) coloured wheels.

there is no sign of modified transmission parts for the "plus" in the parts database. there is a change in the tranny cooling piping (brought in early in the lifecycle of the standard model), but nothing else...
wrt the numbers produced - it looks like around 500 were made, the 1st plus (900001) came off the line in 1st june 2005, and the last (900500) on the 30th sept 2005.

Correct, but i can't recall the detail. The tranny in the + has a higher mfctr rating, as when my second Tip failed on my RS6, i tried demanding a + box as the replacement. Needless to say this did not happen, but was worth a try & my investigation with the OEM RS6 tranny confirmed it's higher power & torque rating.PhilT wrote:249 here. Saying that & i know you'll laugh, neither box is actually rated high enough for a stock RS6 or RS6+. They don't fall far short, but are short none the less.
