I have an idea of buying nice used (35 - 40k miles) RS6 for everyday use. The problem is that I live in Latvia, so we do have real winters with deep snow, freezing temperatures (down to -25 C) and slippery roads. Also since I currently live in the city center, the car will be held outdoors.
I am wondering whether RS6 can be used in such conditions or will it fall apart. Also how difficult is it to not being killed with RS6 on slippery roads. I read somewhere that in spite of Quattro, with its big wheels it is like a duck on slippery ice. Can anybody share RS6 winter experience?
My current car is A4 3.0 Quattro, and it is absolutely fabulous in winter / snow / cold weather (except wipers died last winter), so I was thinking about getting A4 4.2 (aka S4), but I'm a petrolhead so I believe RS6 is much more fun.
RS6 in winter / rough weather
RE: RS6 in winter / rough weather
If you have the correct winter tyres then it will be no problem. I would not want to go downhill in the snow / ice with mine on summer tyres and 19" low profile tyres.

it should be the same as your current car in winter conditions, it will just perform a little better...

RE: RS6 in winter / rough weather
Has anybody actually tried to drive RS6 (or RS4 for that matter) in winter? Are there any problems with engine or other tech parts? You see, my experience shows that sports cars are pretty fragile. All kinds of problems start to happen when you use such cars in cold weather conditions for extended periods of time
So if I go for RS6, I'd better be sure it is as solid as normal A6 or A4.

I have used mine in the Alps and it was fine, and will be again in Jan
I drove past people who had chains on
Standard tyres fitted, just got to be light on the throttle and she is perfect!
I had an Allroad and the RS didn't feel any different to that in the snow(I had ABT rims on my Allroad at the time with standard tyres fitted)
Shame I didn't take a pictures now
