Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi - feel like i've been here for years after all the reading i've done from previous threds intensifying recently as have been more than keen to lay my hands on one of these beauties!
Been saving the pennies for a while looking for an RS6/4 to ease the daily routine (work, wife, two kids and one on the way!) and have recently managed to get my hands on a slightly older RS6 avant ('52 plate) with 46K on the clock. Unfortunately its had its fair share of luck (bad) and so far has suffered with the main problems associated with the 6's - at least from what i've read anyhew. Already had a new 'box and appears to have a dodgy DRC to-boot! and here's my question - i've read everything relating to the DRC issues and especially Rich C's blow by blow photographic account of the DRC/Bilstein PSS9 exchange and just wondered, once the standard components are off what do you do with the hydraulic section of the original DRC? Is it a simple case of 'rip it out and bin it' as the local mastertech suggests or is it more complicated.
Thanks again
Newbie (saying ello) with a question for the knowledgeable!?

I (well Grizz to be precise) left the hydraulic lines, master valves, etc in place ... he simply capped the end of the DRC pipes and tie wrapped the pipes away in a nice secure place. Should I ever need to refit the shocks & springs (which I currently have stashed away in the garage with my OEM exhaust & cats) it should be a case of re-gassing the system. Personally I don't think there's a problem either way ... if you want the old DRC system out of the way then it can be done and maybe save a couple of kg's ... destruction is easier than construction ... then fine and the same applies for leaving it in situ.
