Best bet is really to advertsie it on autotrader. Wider coverage, and more likely to get a quicker sale, assuming you have pitched it fairly compared to what else is on offer.

Pistonheads is a great site, but you'd be surprised how few people know about it. Also, as the name of the site suggests, the buyers you tend to find from this site are "know it alls" and seemingly always looking for a bargain.

Thanks, just confirmed my suspicions :D

Was looking at Autotrader earlier today - the RS6s tend to be priced higher there

Ross

I know we have exchanged pm's about your car a good few weeks ago. From the pictures it looks like you have definitely got an excellent car (and colour scheme!).

I have just purchased an RS6 Avant for £29k. It has 34,000 miles is in excllent condition both inside and out and has just had cambelt replaced and serviced (included new front brake pads and 2 new rear tyres (p-zeros)). Dealer gave 12 month warranty (£5k per claim), 12 months tax and MOT. Car has FASH.

Your advert was very good (only suggestion may be for more pics and if cambelt replaced). As the previous posts suggest your location doesn't help, as currently there appears to be a few cars in and around London in same price ranges and mileage.

I hope this was helpful?

Cheers

I think it looks expensive having viewed a good car yesterday with Audi warranty and fully serviced at £27,000. It was 6 months older with 16,000 more miles though. There seem to be a few car on autotrader at sub £30,000. Good luck with the sale.

OK, thanks for the info guys, but this doesn't really tie in with what Lig said on the 2nd post of this thread...

What's a fair price to expect, before I place an ad on Autotrader's site? (& adjust my price accordingly on Pistonheads  )

Mmmm, Id say youve got a good starting point, its an 04 with lowish mileage and unusual interior (but this would put some people off), plus the warranty helps. I think you should do ok if you were willing to accept 30kish...imo of course. I paid 24.5k for my 02 50K with extras and I think with its history and state that was a good price...again imo

Thanks, more what I'd adjusted my thoughts to

I do appreciate that the interior colour will create a true Marmite Scenario  but the red is a refreshing change from the normal black/grey/creams which seem to prevail... :D (all IMHO of course  )

I agree, around or below £30k should see a sale. I would have been very tempted at that price!

I sold my 04 plate 21k miler for £31750 privately back in November last year. At the time dealers were offering £30-31k. Add on 8 months of depreciation and some more miles I think you're looking at high 20's.

I would try calling around a few dealers and ask them what they will actually give you for it, as that will give you a better idea of what the car is really worth than looking at asking prices in Autotrader which may not ever be realised. Then add on a grand or two to sell privately.

In terms of the ad, if your brakes, tyres etc are nearly new or in good condition then I would make a point of it, as I would probably assume they were nackered by default.

Good luck with the sale.

Hi Gary, off topic but how are you getting on with the BMW. I am looking to move the other way from DMS 330d to RS6. Patrick

It's on my list of RS6 replacements...
