Hi from a new guy (sort of)

I've been a member here for a long time having come very close to buying an RS2 a few years ago.

Anyhow I'm back and I just put a deposit on a black RS6 Avant this afternoon so I'll probably be staying put for a while this time. Friday can't come soon enough...

Hi Fen,

Looks like youve got the car Iwas going to have a look at (Prestige Cars of Sunningdale), good luck with the purchase. Did they budge on price for you?

Cheers

Tom

Nope, no movement on price though I did try. They knew it was attractively priced already and that someone would pay the full money for it. Was it you who rang while I was out driving it? Sorry to nab it before you - there is next to nothing wrong with it and the ad didn't mention the solar roof, black optic, folding mirrors and 4xheated seats (are they an option?) and brand new cross drilled brakes so it was actually better than I expected.

I'm itching to collect: Money in the account (2 days earlier than expected) so I can pay by Switch. The car is all ready apart from a rear nearside window seal that I am happy to fit myself when it arrives. The V5 is with the previous owner who is not returning voicemails however and it isn't taxed so can't be driven, so I'm now thinking a Friday collection is looking doubtful. :x

Cheers for the welcome everyone by the way.

It wasnt me that rung why you were out on the test drive, I think that was probably sales patter to get you buy! I was put of to be honest buy the sales guy there, actually quite rude when I rang, probably having an off day. I knew it had the brakes done recently. Its had a few owners though (3 or 4?) I was told, the last guy only owned it for 3 month's?? Not that would worry me, nicly specced and exactly what I was looking for! Damn!
Good luck to you, at least its gone to someone on here. I am considering a saloon on here thats up for sale so I will keep looking.

I assumed it was just sales patter until you said you were interested. I actually liked the sales guy, though not so much on the phone. The car was in the showroom looking all gleaming and I thought I might have a problem getting a drive in it. I had to ask straight out as he wasn't going to offer, but as soon as I did he moved cars around and got it onto the forecourt then he basically said "theres 1/4 tank in it - turn right out of here, there are no cameras" and I was off on my own in it.

TBH I forgot to check owners, but in my experience these sorts of cars change hands quite a lot. The last guy only got it in April and used it for under 2,000 miles. I forget what he chopped it against (E55 AMG?) but it was one of a number of cars in his stable, some with prancing bulls on the badge and I don't think there is anything sinister about the provenance. It was the spec that did it for me - I had an inkling black would look superb and the black optic sets it off a treat. I would have liked lazy-boy wipers and lights (as my BM has them and I'll doubtless forget to turn the lights on or off for a while), but it has everything else I would want. It's always good to find a used car close to the spec you would have ordered yourself if buying new.

Fen, I'm sure you've read all that's to know with ref to the DRC but PLEASE take out a 12 month warranty that will cover suspension issues.

If it's not too late why not contact Camberley Audi, speak to Fiona Jones 01276 606500 and she may be able to get an Audi warranty.

It should pay for it's self in time. Mine did in a few months.

Sorry to put a downer on your welcome to this great car, it's just something i feel so strongly about.

Welcome to the RS6 owners club and I'll be seeing you on the road no doubt as we are local ish.

Why not pop alone to the Meet on the 1st July?

I'm pretty sure that the solar roof is the only optional extra.

Hi Fen and welcome, we're all keen to see pics of your new steed. Sounds like a nice spec you have.

The solar sunroof, black optics and folding mirrors are options, you can check out the rest of your spec here:

On the subject of Warranty's, mmmm... Im going to go against the grain here and of course its up to the owner but I wouldnt be to worried by the warranty if your only concern is the DRC. Im looking at this mess from the point of view that if it fails then I will replace it with the PSS9 set up, if you look at a posting by Grizz this seems the way to go. For almost the same amount of money for a warranty you'll can buy the PSS9 set up!

Of course on the flipside a warranty will also cover other issues you may have with the car. But I think these cars are extremely tough to break, only other weak links being the gearbox if you go remap the engine to silly figures.....

Thanks for the advice - I've read up on the DRC and I am suitably scared. I don't necessarily want to buy a warranty though as all being well (in other words if I like it enough) it will be in a container bound for the other side of the world by Christmas. I think I might keep the warranty money back for PSS9s (or KW variant 3 - anyone used them on an RS6 as they are awesome on my 944?)

I'm actually not local to you Adam - I am local to someone, but I can't remember who now - Kingsteignton in Devon. There aren't any nice cars for sale locally and Sunningdale was actually the third or fourth closest to me that was around yesterday.

I'm married also - to a woman was the only option back then, not that I wanted it any other way.
