Another new RS6 owner with DRC probs

Post by simo » Sat Apr 28, 2007 11:23 am

Hi everyone! Great forum.

As a newbe I've got a few questions- sorry!

I've had my merlin purple RS6 avant since Jan this year + it's been back 5 times to dealers with EML + DRC problems.

The front n/s + rear o/s dampers have been replaced in Feb (Audi Stockport) but now it's back in with the front o/s for replacement and EML on again!

Should I press Manchester Audi (who just want to replace the front damper) to replace the connecting rear as well? - reading all the posts about DRC is slightly worrying!

Also, does anyone out there have their RS6 on variable extended interval servicing? (sounds like a silly idea for such a high performance car).

Mine was when I bought it (done 18k + last serviced 10 months before) but the Audi dealer where I bought it said it wasn't due until 35k!

I disputed this after getting advice from another Audi dealer + paid for a 20k service and am trying to get this back from original dealer.

I still love the car when I actually have it, but all these problems with the suspension do hint at a design fault - maybe we should all get together and express our disappoiontment to Audi UK as has been suggested.

Cheers,

Simon

Purple? Is this JK's old car?

Yes, try to get the diagonal one done at the same time. If the pressure has dropped because of one damper failing, then the other damper will have been flapping around under reduced pressure and will most likely have suffered damage too, so it might fail sometime in the future.

The RS6 is on fixed 10k, 1 year servicing and is not eligible for variable servicing.

On your last point, there is a thread running where one of the website owners (Phil) is negotiating with Audi. Let's hope for a positive outcome. Hopefully an extended goodwill on the DRC at the least, but preferably a recall to fit something fit for purpose.

Welcome to the forum! :D

Thanks for the advice!

I've had conflicting advice from different Audi dealers about the servicing - it appears they don't really know what they're doing with anything a little out of the ordinary!

Looking back through the forum it appears most RS6 owners have experienced similar DRC problems!

Yes it was JK's car (should be well run-in then!) - supposedly the only purple RS6?

Thanks again!
