Wobble at high speed braking

Post by Rek » Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:42 am

I have just had news pads fitted at Docklands Audi and at high speed (100 mph +) braking the front wheels shudder. There is a slight shudder at that speed when not braking. Is this just wheel balancing, or something particular to RS6's. It didn't happen before the pads were fitted. Any advice.

The car should travel smoothly at any speed on a flat road. Get the wheel balance checked.

The shuddering you feel could be warped disks or it could just need a few more miles to bed in.

Don't forget, wear pads in slowly at first, let them get used to the heat ;)

Ps, where in the Docklands area can you get 100+? ? lol! ! ! :D

Perhaps the pads need to bedded in but I'll get the balance checked. They may have knocked a weight off when they took the wheels off.

100+ is possible in the Docklands. It looks a bit like Skippy when you're going over the speed bumps though! If you time it right, you are in the air for every second one.

I've just had new discs and pads fitted to the front and am experiencing the same problem. Took the car to Germany over the weekend and coming down from high speeds the "judder" from the front was very noticeable. All wheels were balanced following disc/pad replacement and prior to autobhan action. Booked into the dealership next week to re-check wheel balance and brakes. Any other suggestions welcome beforehand?

When I had discs/pads replaced, I did an aggressive bed-in immediately .... hard braking from 60 mph down to 10 mph, repeated 5-6 times in succession; lots of smoke, but no shudder and NO SQUEALING!

you need to bed the pads in properly - tehy do take a while ...after a couple of hundred miles then really give them some hammer and that should sort them out
cheers
