Looks to me like the vehicle lost control and was travelling sideways and forwards into the tree with "the bandage".

Vehicle appears to have hit (our) O/S front corner as first point of impact and force continues diaganolly(ish) through to N/S rear (our).

Amazing the driver walked away, would have been different if it was RHD and there were no passengers - in which case there would have been fatalities.

Just goes to show you never want to hit a tree in an accident, lucky, lucky, guy to have survived!

Reading on RS6 International, ther fire crew did not do any cutting

It is my brother-in-law that you see holding the mobile phone, he honestly doesn't know the speed that he was going at but wasn't near as fast as he has done in the past on that particular part of the road.

Although the road was completely dry he said that it felt he was on ice and the car just careened into the tree. He actually called the emergency services and climbed out of the car by himself, he spent only a couple of hours in hospital, apart from a few minor scratches he got a bandage around his little finger, I told him if he's not already religious he should take it up ASAP!

The car WAS a pristine RS6 ABT, I was supposed to pick it up that very day to borrow it from him for a week as I've always wanted to try out the ABT version. He really should have simply told me that he didn't want me to drive his car I'm so happy he is alive and all in one piece.

I have referred him to this forum.

That just goes to show that you really can buy anything on ebay. I wonder what price it will go for?? If its starting and a little over £2.5K, even in that state I can imagine that you will reclaim quite a valuable pot of parts from the thing.

Group buy anyone

You could probably count the salvageable parts from that car on 1 hand.
Modern cars are meant to bend in all sort of places through the shell to absorb as much energy as possible in an impact and this car will be no different - who I am kidding look at the shell!

What's the betting most of the wheels are buckled?
As mentioned the exhuast pipes have been ripped off so turbos are probably cracked.
All the seat frames have probably bent and the mounting to virtually every interior item will be damaged or bent.
Engine may have jumped a tooth on the belt with the shock of the sudden impact and who would want to put that gearbox/diff/transmission/suspension on their own car after a shunt like that?
A very risky buy.

John

I think the engine & box would have been ok , the exhaust pipes had come apart on the joint's , the joint on the prop would have done the same. £4500 is not that bad .
