3 x tanks @ 12mpg average

OUCH i hear you say

the last 3 tanks have worked out to average 12mpg 14mpg and 12mpg

is this normal for someone enjoying themselves within reason or do i need to go to the doctors with a heavy foot ???

its getting amd'd in 2 weeks is this going to become 8mpg ???

The remap wont really affect the MPG, however, you'll probably drive harder, hence you'll probably goto single digits.

did Birmingham to Middlesboro' the other day cruising at pursuit speeds (a couple of hours give or take a few years - trying not to be too obvious for legal reasons).... all for about 40 notes. In summation Me thinks that at such cruising speeds that the car is more economical. Anyone want to QED that?

Regularly get 21 to 22mpg on motorway runs, even at speed , although shorter trips I still average around 17 and I aint exactly hanging around.

I averaged 8.6 mpg at Donington yesterday. Cruise there and back I got 22 mpg. It's almost as economical as the RS4

How did your front brake pads fair at Donnington Phil?

The RS6 I test drove a while back was showing an average mpg of 19.8 - I can't imagine that anyone else who'd driven it would have been any more "economical" with it than me...

It'll show that from time to time but my avarage is 12-15 on a tank . If i drive like a tart i can get 19 .

Everything seems to have stood up very well. I'm not out to prove anything on track days, and don't believe that standing on brakes and accelerating like a madman on steroids is the way. Donington is a nice wide flowing track that can accomodate everything from the novice to the expert. The 6 managed to hold pretty good corner speed and I would say that in the wet it is probably faster than the 4. In the dry the 4 would outpace the 6, so the next stop will be to try some sticky rubber for the 6.

PhilT - don't get too sticky (ie slicks) - suspension (arms) not up to the job (will snap)

I have seen a 24 mpg average on the DIS, but I'm not convinced that V-Power is as good as Optimax ... currently showing 22 mpg.

Updated my fuel records for work today for 2006; Totals of £4,331 for 4,799L over 16,900 Miles so 16mpg over the year.
