RS6 to RS2?

Post by edcase » Mon Sep 18, 2006 12:54 pm

Any '6' owners driven a '2'?

Any thoughts?

Seems to tick every box I'm looking to tick...

Ed

I've had an S2, an RS2, RS4 and now have an RS6+.

I have to say that I THINK the RS2 was more fun than them all........would I change back? Probably not but a good RS2 must be an investment now rather than a financial cliff. That said I'm not sure if any of us on here by cars for that reason, just as well I guess!

The RS2 was raw fun and the rarity is an attraction too. Not an easy call, drive one and see.

Cheers, MartynC

Martyn, a very measured response. Yes it does seem the values have hit the lowest they are likely to go, and it is a car I've always had a fondness for. I think as you say, I'll check one out and see...

Like Martyn, I've had them all at one time, and enjoyed my RS2 for over 5 years. Overriding memory of the RS2 - massive turbo lag. Get the revs up and you're there - exhilerating, but can be scary pulling out at junctions sometimes. Still have the original brochure somewhere, as well as the copy of Autocar that grabbed my attention with an RS Blue one on the cover and the best bit "Faster than a McLaren F1!"

Hi Adam and Ed

That Autocar report makes good reading, I don't have a copy any more but it would be worth your while sending for a reprint Ed if they are still available.

Your right Adam, faster than an F1 to 30mph if I remember. The first gear accelleration is quite brutal. Gosh I'm missing it now!

Will work on it, but it'll be in about a week's time as I'm off in my Clio to Cadwell Park for tomorrow, then a few days in Scotland for an end of season wakeboarding bash.

If you pm me your email address Ed then I'll send the stuff that way as I'm not 100% on how to post scans on the forum.

Cheers

Adam

I have a few years worth of back issues of VW Audi Magazine from the late 80's and early 90's, I'm pretty sure that there were some back to back tests of the RS2 against a Nothelle tuned 20V UR Quattro and a similarly tuned S2. I'll have to venture into the shed to recover them and scroll through a couple of hundred old mags, but am prepared to do it just to reminiss
