RS6 - calipers? 8-pots, which pads?

Post by badger5 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 12:09 am

What do you guys run as pads for occasional track use?
The RS6 - does it have the 8-pot brembo's?

just fitted some to my S8 and am off to the ring and am contemplating spare (fit for ring) pads

thanks

Yes, the RS6/RS6+ has 8 pot Brembo calipers.

Standard pads are made by Pagid. Sorry, dont know what options are available for track use, but would guess the usual redstuff/greenstuff.

Hmmm. will maybe think about asking for red stuffs for the ring trip in a couple weeks
finished fitting the monstor brakes last night.
not too good at the moment tho.. will re-bleed them and see how the pedal feels. (long and slightly spongy at the moment.)

3mm spacers in the end needed to clear the 19's, but the std 18's will clear with 10mm spacers on.
RS4 disks and RS6 calipers. (pagid Oe pads as you say)

I eat my way through disks, they get ribbed due to the heat, and I require new padsd every service. I have asked QST and my dealer and they both recommend sticking with the Audi option as any others do not give you anything better and t hey are very high in price. However, aftermarket ceramic disks might be worth trying.

I know I used a set of disks to a set of pads on the std 323x30 disks & twin pots it ran.

The disks I have now are RS4 ones, mated to RS6 8-pot caliper.
Got a trip to the ring in a couple weeks so wanted to have something which would cope. 2 years ago I took the S8 and in the dry the brakes lasted 4 corners only! I kid you not.. boiled the fluid (AP Racing fluid)

Hoping these enormous, vented rotors and big arse calipers will cope better.
