Just bought an RS6 C5

Post by zip929 » Tue Apr 27, 2010 11:04 am

Hi guys
The car has covered 95,000 miles and is not under Audi warranty.
How many guys on here are running their car without an Audi warranty?

I have been looking at click4warranty and their prices seem reasonable.
I really just want to cover a catastrophic failure like a gearbox. 7k would hurt very much, but with click4warranty I would still have to contribute 45% towards the cost of the gearbox because of the current mileage on the car. Admittedly paying 45% of 7k is better than 100% of 7k.

Hi Dave, welcome and good choice in car, i have also have a RS6 C5 currently on 102,000 miles, full service history and always well looked after, i have no warranty, i have looked into it but most don't really cover cars over 100k miles, with regards to gearbox failures, i think its a lottery, however these guys will tell you about various warranty, and any help that you need with your beast. Chris.

Hi Chris
As I say after perusing this forum it is the gearbox going that is the worst case scenario. A lot of cars seem to have had gearbox work at some point, or maybe I am being paranioid!
What a car though. So effortless and smooth. A real pleasure to drive.
I hope I am going to have several years of pleasure with this beast.

Hope you enjoy the car, rather than letting the prospect of failures keep you awake at night. Looking forward to seeing your car around Kent!

My advise is drive and enjoy, thats what i think in mine, what else in the same price range can you have for performance of (a super car) at 5 times the price and 10 times the bills ,if it does go wrong then worry then until then enjoy my friend.

That is exactly what I am doing.
Although it looks like I need new discs and pads all round (ouch!)
The wheels are in bad shape and need refurbishing.
I would like a remap, and at some point I will have to change the DRC.

Just my preference but

MRC or ViperBL for map
Bilstein PSS9's with Arbs to replace DRC
