Hello all - I am currently thinking of buying either an RS6 (02/03 plate) or and RS4 (B5 2000/2001 year)
I am having a hard time deciding on which would be the best choice.
on paper there is not a lot to split them, performance is similar, cost to buy is similar, petrol figures seem not too far from each other etc.

I saw the thread about the RS6 DRC issues which is a bit off putting - does the RS4 have any such vices?

Has anyone driven both cars - how do they differ in real world terms for performance & handling? Im personally coming from comparing against - an S6 4.2 saloon I drove the other day & have owned Impreza's in the past (nobodys perfect)

Can someone 'in the know' give me any advice either way & cover any gottchas if there are any.

Cheers
Phil

Friend has got an RS4 and excellent car, but he has parental considerations and is now thinking of an RS6. I have an RS6 and it is excellent. Would recommend taking it to Grizz at Unit 20 or MRC at Banbury to get the DRC removed and replaced by coliovers (Bilstein or KW v3s) much better ride and damping especially if you get anti-roll bars fitted. Also recommend the MRC re-map as it has given me 10-15% better economy as well as performance.

Either way good luck as both are excellent cars.

Hello Phil,
Go for a 2001 RS4, awsome cars, realiable and relatively cheap to run and they only come in manual transmission.
Had a RS6 before my 2001 RS4 and had no end of troubles, suspension kept going wrong and didnt like autobox.
Feels faster as well.
Good luck.
Paul.
