Hi,
I have been lurking around here for a couple of years...
I currently have a 2011 Mini JCW, but new family means I need something bigger.
I have always dreamt of an RS avant, but had to spend a long time in diesels (mostly A3s) due to my commute, this is now much lower!
But now I have a debate, and I know I am opening a can of worms... B5 or B7 RS4?
Cheers,
Rich

Both are good but not that many B5's left in the UK so that might narrow down your options.
Had my B7 for almost 10 years, still puts a smile on my face every time I get in it.
I had a R55 JCW Clubman, 14 plate so one of the very last with the N18 engine. That was great fun as well and probably big enough if you only have 1 sprog to put in it.
B7 is not huge in the back if it has the bucket seat option. Coming from a Mini it will feel massive but don't expect to fit 4 adults comfortably in it if you are over 6ft.
The boot is big enough for a buggy though.

Thanks for the reply!
b5s are obviously much harder to find, especially in the rarer colours. I can only see a few avus for sale at the moment...
My 2011 JCW is a very late N14 unfortunately, but I had done my research and bought "used and approved" from BMW, so managed to get them to replace the timing chain etc almost straight away. It is a very high spec car, so didn't want to find another one that had already had work done.
Space shouldn't be an issue, I am only 5ft9 - which I blame on welsh miner genes from my grandparents!
