Money Pit #3: 2008 RS4 Avant (B7)

Post by QuRace » Thu Feb 21, 2019 8:21 pm

Hi all!

Last October, the "Fast Estates" department of my collection received a new addition: a 2008 Audi RS4 Avant (B7) w/ only 53000 km on the odometer. Have been looking for a good one of those for quite some time... And it's bright orange - i think I'm going to be noticed...

In other news:

Money Pit #2 is a 2002 Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon GTA. Italian styling & Italian engine - a very nice package also.

And

Money Pit #1 is a 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe with a 454 Big Block (obviously, that one is for the torque lobe of my brain...).

So, yeah, I'm kind of a car guy. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Very cool mate. Are you in the US? Can't imagine parts are simple if not.
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

I'm guessing not as he has the Avant which wasn't available in the US.

Welcome. I assume the 2002 gta sportwagon is the 156?
I had both a B7 RS4 and a 156gta, but both of mine were the saloon flavour. Loved them both but loved the B7 more.

Some serious detective work going on here...

I'm located in Germany, where the Autobahn lives.

And concerning parts, Germany does have a US car community. Not huge, but sizeable enough for some parts vendors to operate over here. And there exists a thing called The Interwebs. You can have urgent stuff imported from the US within a few days, no problem. Not that I have needed that kind of service in the 8 years I've owned the car. It has contented itself with eating breaker points... (and gasoline)

Yes, it's the estate version of the car you know. I forgot to mention the "156" model line descriptor in my OP. Fixed.

In German there is a saying: "Geschmack macht einsam" (roughly: "Good taste makes you lonely"). But it seems there are at least two of us...

And which one will I love more? Haven't driven the RS4 yet (purchased in October, now winter pause), so I'll have to wager a guess: RS4 over GTA by 33.3% (you know, V8 vs. V6... :? ).

Don't hold you breath. Since the PhotoBucket extortion racket began, I have not yet gotten myself to look for a new picture hoster. Sorry.

I prefer the forum image hosting as it is easier to click on the photo and zoom into them than when using photoboucket. The only issue with using the forum hosting is the photo must be less than 7mb and most of the photos my phone takes are bigger than that.

I tried it when I first joined but I’m not a fan of the fact the photos are lower resolution until you click on them. With postimage and others, if you click on the image you get directed to a page with the photo that you can zoom etc and it gives me a backup too.

Maybe if you had a saloon they wouldn’t be more than 7mb, just get the gas out and start cutting :audibash:

Cheers

OK, since we don't want to risk this developing into a case of AUTO-erotic asphyxiation (yes, you can google that... ), here goes:
