There was a CSR'd 996 on Pistonheads recently, I think it was going for £40k. Strong money but very capable car.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Yeah at £40k I’d have to think really... CSR or 996TT. Saying that even if you cherry picked the best CSR bits you spend that and possibly more. Tough one really. £65k+ for a GT3.

Thanks for the solitary FON 😂

Seen this one, lovely spec, decent miles, good history and perfect mods.... anyone know it or the dealer?

Far less than it'd take me to buy a 996

In defense of the 996 - I had one. Brilliant car. Handled like it was on rails. Fast as fxck. Never missed a beat in 4yrs of ownership - literally nothing at all ever went wrong. Nada. Ok, so it was a turbo but the 996 is an amazing machine.
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

I hear the 996 turbo is more of a drivers car than the equivalent 997 due to being more mechanical (diff’s etc).

The PDK box in the 997 Turbo S is epic though. That makes it a much better drive than the 996 Turbo in my experience. The 996 Turbo is an awesome car though. And I think the 997 Gen II Turbo S I had was a better car than the 991 Turbo S. Will be interesting to see what they do with the 992 Turbo S. May be tempted to get one of those if it's good.

For certain the 996 Turbo is a completely different animal to the standard coupe. Both my cousin and my good friend Dirk who's got the X50 engine have one. Both are silver, manual and drive superbly.

You're not kidding there. Years ago I went into my local Porsche dealer to buy my first 911. I booked to test drive a nearly new 996 Carrera 2 and drove out in a 996 Turbo (with a considerably lighter wallet than planned). The dealer was smart. He knew this was my first Porsche and although I did like the drive in the Carrera 2 (I had just come out of TVR after TVR after TVR, so naturally I was going to like the 911) he then teased me with a 4S. And once I had said that I preferred the wide body on the 4S he disappeared and pulled up out front in a turbo. Within 5 minutes of driving the turbo the deal was done. Great car.

996 Turbo would still take 7-8 pints; so I could never drive one.

If you drove one you'd change your mind. :bigblink:
