RS4 B7 Door mirror trim corrosion

Post by greg smith » Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:10 pm

Hi,
I've had this car from new. Absolutely amazing service with approaching 12 years of ownership.
Used as every day transport for work and transporting my two Labradors around. Used for track days as well.
Anyway not an uncommon problem but the black "plate" that each of the door mirrors is attached to or through are corroded and unsightly. Parts are available but want to find out how straightforward to replace before I embark on this. In other words is it an epic for a specialist or something a reasonably competent individual could deal with?
Many thanks,
Greg Smith

Not sure but my drivers side is the same. I'm going to order the part and swap myself. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Surrey Sam posted a good tutorial on how to remove the mirrors and base plates - should be able to find it by searching the forum.

It’s a DIY job, but might be worth buying a cheap trim removal kit to make it easier (I got one from Amazon)
