Wannabe RS4 B7 owner

Post by GaryA » Fri May 11, 2018 9:07 pm

Good evening all
I've been thinking of buying a B7 RS4 for sometime and only yesterday I decided enough is enough I need one in my life.
I'm set on sprint blue and drawn to the Saloon but keep thinking to myself is the Avant the right thing to do.
Anyway, I'm now actively looking and hope to be a proud owner very soon.
Cheers

Sprint blue saloon is now my aim and I've found one locally but it doesn't have wingbacks and is still on original DRC with lowering springs which I know will ride well but for how long ?
I've been hammering the search on this fantastic forum and it appears that there are many supporters of the comfort seats. The look of the wingbacks is amazing and until Friday I've been ignoring every car with comforts as I think they are ugly. Now that I've found a nice example I'm considering dropping the one thing I had my heart set on because I'm not getting any slimmer, I'm 50 with occasional back issues.
Today I have a beautiful Mk3 Golf with a Mk5 R32 engine and it's bonkers. I am keeping it but is it now time that I accept I'm not getting any younger.

Anyway, the sun is shinning and I'm going back to look / drive a 2007 @ 1pm. To say I'm excited is an understatement

Good luck buddy. Nothing wrong with the comfort seats. Had them before in S4’s. The RS4 buckets are a specific feature of the car, but not for everyone. See what you think today and if everything adds up go for it.

It sounds like I can swap them out if I get bored at approx £1.5k so will bear in mind should we get into negotiations

I had comforts in mine and my son had buckets in his. Wear factor is less with comforts and adjustability is better via electrics. I used to struggle getting in and out of my sons and I found them to tight and uncomfortable. Also I like to have support under my thighs and with buckets they don’t give me the same support as comforts. Buckets look good but comforts are far better IMO.

Lol in summary I bought the local one 3 days later. Cleaned it, drove it for a couple of days and now addressing little bits. The car is a great example in my opinion but just needs a bit of attention to the details.
Few faults which helped negotiate price. Such as, vibration @ 70, cured by switching fronts to rears. Plan is to refurb all 4 wheels as slight curbing on 3 and fit 4 new tyres.
Horrible HU, very capable and good for saxo boys but not for me. Have the original but will prob swap with the wife's AVH-8600BT
Bumper is off at moment to fit CAF and have a good poke around.
Paint correction duties this weekend.
Booked into MRC next month for a treat.
