Hello
Hello
Just joining up to say Hello.
I'm Ben and unfortunately don't have an RS yet. I currently have an E46 M3 which i've owned 18 months now and love but I think its time to move on and I'm hopefully going for a B7 RS4 avant in the near future.
I figure this might be best place to learn a little bit more about them before I take the plunge!
Cheers
Ben

Re: Hello
For a B7 you need 5x112 PCD.
Centre bore is 57.1 but you can use larger bore wheels eg 66.6 with a spigot.
width depends on offset etc but standard wheels are 9inches wide and had an ET29. You can esasily get 8-10mm spacer on this so a 9 inch wheel with ET20 will sit about right. Obvious need to watch caliper clearance on the front.

Re: Hello
Took the plunge on Friday and bought one off the forum.

Pretty happy with it but its got an annoying rumble at low speeds, haven't had chance to jack it up yet but a quick look has revealed a split in the control arm ball joint dust cover, so im guessing this could be the culprit.

Re: Hello
Really? It doesn't sound great to be honest - does sound like something has play in it to be honest.
I'll have a good look and a pry on the joints and see if I can find excessive play anywhere.
Re: Hello
Yes. Ask around about it. If you do a search on this forum you'll read of many owners new to quattros grumbling about it (pun intended). It's just the torsen diff doing its thing.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Hello
Ah, could well be what it is then which is good. I can live with noises just not if it means there is something wrong! I had another poke around this morning and the boot isn't actually split and I can't find play anywhere.
I have also noticed a louder bang coming from the back over bumps (first time I sat in the back of it today with the Mrs driving) I first thought it was the DRC shock but there doesn't seem to be any leaks and I don't think they were replaced that long ago....
On another note I've just stuck my M3 up for sale....going to be very sad to see it go
