New-ish member. Almost there.....

Post by philS2 » Thu Dec 15, 2016 12:52 am

Hi everyone, I'm Phil.
I've had my Rs6 for a few months now and have done a LOT of work on it.
Mainly putting right what <beep> have done who've worked on it before.
I came over from the S2 forum after having a 1990 model for nine years (remapped by Minhea on Tesco Momentum) , and before that I had a 1986 2.0 coupe for ten years, and wanted another Audi (nearly went BMW)
This Rs6 has also been remapped by MRC last year on Tesco Momentum  (before I got it) but it's not quite right now.
Only getting 12 psi. I've already replaced a couple of dodgy boost hoses and all the vacuum hoses.

Changed the suction jet pump, as that left me with rough running and no brake assist.(WHAT a B*STARD job.
Just changing N75 and N249 on Saturday as they're both towards the high end of resistance.
Gearbox internal seal seems to have gone as it slips, but getting better?, (pressure tested by firm in Doncaster).
But maf readings aren't perfect, so working on that too, (checked all voltages and resistances and swapped them over).
Dv's hold vacuum but not sure about boost (swapped them over too).

Oh, as for the "Almost there...." in my title.
I've been through the forum, from the welcome post on Sat Jan 04, 2003 at 4:06 pm (178 pages ago) to page 53 currently.
All I can say is, AMAZING forum.
Some of the knowledge here is very informative and has allowed me to fix things I've been shiteing myself over.
Sorry for the long first post, was only going to say HI :bigwave: but wrote one thing and felt inclined to explain or expand.
Thanks for reading, Phil.

Thanks. Sorry. What a schoolboy error. I'll get it washed. Oh yeah, I can't work out what FON is.

I'd certainly be happy with seeing the S2 in the interim whilst the six is photographed.

Here you go. '86 coupe first. I know, I was young.
First S2 photo is on original springs, before H&R's (never got round to having the two genuine wing I had fitted).
Second was my S2 Forum profile pic (I always liked the accidental sun burst). In that shot it has the H&R's.
The last two show it back on original Avus because I was out of work and sold the RS6 reps to a surfer dude.(Still had the wings hanging in my garage after six or seven years).
Also it was way quicker on pickup without all that unsprung weight.

I'm afraid she's caked. Nearly pulled out the hose, jet washer, 240v extension, lance, shampoo, wash mitt and wash leather, then thought about how fricking cold it was. I tried posting a side shot to but it was too big (had the phone sideways so couldn't edit it down.
