I really, really, really loved the RS4. There wasn't a day that went where I didn't regret selling it. The M3, meh, it's just that to me. Though, BMW fans would disagree. Audi's just feel better and the RS4 is still quite an exclusive vehicle over here, due to limited availability. Being that the US only got RS4's between 2007-2008, updates weren't available. The technology was terrible...NAV and bluetooth were atrocious. It handled like a dream, even with the DRC issues. The RS5 handles a little rougher or you feel more of the road; which I've read some complaining about in other forums, it doesn't bother me one bit. The RS5 feels more nimble and quicker. We didn't get the Euro Recaro buckets in the RS4, due to the side bolster airbag requirement. You could get them, at about $14k US, but weren't US DOT approved. The RS4 side bolsters and seats wore rather unevenly and quickly. Many that you see over here, used, have severe wear on the side where you enter the car. The RS5 has the updated Recaro's Sportser CS style seats, which is nice. I'm of the opinion that the RS5 will be in the same position that the RS4 is over here, limited and exclusive. For any faults anyone in the US has, the fact remains, there's approximately 2,000 of them in the US. I believe there was approximately 2,400 RS4's imported. The exclusivity of each makes them, at least to me, more appealing. I had people attempt to tell me it's just an overpriced A4 chassis and now a A5 chassis, both from BMW M3 folks. Which is partially true, but I always ask how many Le Mans has BMW won? I explain that the pinnacle of both divisions engineering teams are at play and BMW doesn't even come close. So, though it may be a standard chassis, the fact remains that the Audi transmission is far superior to anything anyone could even come close to...including BMW. I also point out that on any given day you can goto any other manufacturers car dealership and find their "exclusive" vehicles. What you won't find is 5 or 6 RS vehicles sitting on an Audi dealership's lot. I don't like the RS4 over the RS5 or vice versa, they are different vehicles on different chassis, with different feats achieved. If I had a family, I may have stepped back into a RS4 or if it where my daily driver. Being as it is, I still believe the RS4 stance is superior to the RS5, that big, wide back end, but less nimble than the RS5. The stock exhaust note valved/unvalved on the RS4 is better sounding and louder than the RS5. But, the RS5 feels better and with the updated interior appointments, I would take it over the RS4.
